  • Happy New Year from all of us at InnerWill to you! As we cross into a new year, it’s a great time to reflect on the lessons we’ve learned and the challenges we’ve overcome. Each year brings new opportunities, but it’s the lessons from the past that shape our path forward. Here’s to new beginnings, continued growth, and the power of reflection.

  • As we continue our team’s gratitude series, Sharon Amoss shares her gratitude for our spectacular team! “I am deeply grateful to work alongside such a talented, kind-hearted, and fun team. We each bring unique strengths and of course, we each have our own growth opportunities - I sure do! Together we have accomplished some truly amazing things - and at times we have fallen short of being the team we are capable of being.  What is unwavering, though, is the deep authenticity that comes from truly understanding our own personal core values and the commitment to living into our shared values of courage, compassion, hope, and significance. Some days it simply takes my breath away.” #teamwork #inspiration #gratitude #leadership

  • This holiday season, the InnerWill team worked with Communities In Schools of Chesterfield, adopting three students for the holiday season. • Beth Furgurson reminds us to have gratitude for both the positives and negatives we may face during the holiday season and throughout the year as they shape who we are and how we can grow: “During the busy holiday season, it’s easy for my gratitude practice to fall by the wayside. I try to remind myself that gratitude shouldn’t be reserved for when everything is perfect. True gratitude comes from appreciating both the highs and the lows, recognizing that every experience shapes who we are.” #gratitude #leadership #valuesbasedleadership

  • Last week, in partnership with the Family Business Alliance, we wrapped up our second cohort of Leading Forward, a program for now-generation family business leaders who are committed to preserving the family business and developing the capacity to influence and lead within their families, organizations, and communities. Thank you to Robin Burns, the FBA team and to all of our amazing participants who gave their time and energy in and out of the classroom – engaging with one another and the community   Leading Forward provides a high-level overview of all the critical components to successfully leading a family enterprise. Participants benefit from observing live case studies of successful family enterprises, engaging in interactive facilitated sessions, and hearing from other local business leaders who share their visions and personal beliefs about leadership.   We look forward to watching these leaders impact their families, businesses, and their communities and are forever grateful for the opportunity to support them.  Visit www.fbagr.org to learn more about next year’s Leading Forward and all of their programs and services. • In 2024, we launched our Reinvention not Retirement workshop designed for employees transitioning out of the workforce. The content covers six major reinvention questions to help participants prepare for the next stage of life with passion and purpose. Nearly 10,000 baby boomers retire every day in the US with that trend continuing over the next several years – the Reinvention not Retirement program is a great value to those it serves. Studies show that nearly 50% of retirees struggle with feelings of loss and purpose, often feeling unprepared for the emotional and social transitions that come with leaving the workforce. By offering a space for reflection, exploration, and planning beyond financial concerns, the Reinvention Not Retirement program helps people step into the next phase of their lives with clarity and purpose. Thank you to our partners, Luck Companies, Virginia Retirement System and Virginia Tourism Corporation for offering this important program to your associates. We look forward to expanding the program in 2025! If you are interested in learning more, please email Michaela Ranaldi Bearden at michaela.bearden@innerwill.org. #reinvention #retirement #leadership #valuesbasedleadership

  • The holiday season can spark joy and togetherness, but it can also spark change. As we continue our team’s gratitude series, Michaela Ranaldi Bearden discusses seasons of transition and change and how we can have gratitude for new perspectives. “This past August, two of our three kids moved out for the school year—our oldest to college out of state and the youngest to Italy for a high school year abroad. Our third is adjusting to being the only child at home. Meanwhile, I’ve stepped into my role at InnerWill, and my husband is stepping into a new role within his company. While we sometimes feel overwhelmed by all of the moving parts, I find myself deeply grateful for this season of transition - and often enjoying it! For me, it’s a reminder that change is a source of growth. Transition offers new perspectives and it's important to slow down to reflect and savor the moments. Change is a constant character in our lives. Embrace it, learn from it, and adapt to your new surroundings. If you're in a season of change, how are you embracing the journey?” #change #inspiration #leadership #valuesbasedleadership

  • How are you finding gratitude in every adventure? Kim Jones shares how nature and simple moments inspire her! “For those who love nature, adventure, and their loyal dog by their side, gratitude often comes from simple moments. It’s the sunrise after a tough hike, the excitement of a wagging tail on the trail, or the freedom of a road trip with endless possibilities. Nature reminds us to pause, take it all in, and appreciate what’s around us—the sounds, sights, and experiences that make life richer. As you gear up for your next adventure, take a moment to reflect: What are you grateful for today? Nature has a way of answering that question with every step.” #gratitude #inspiration #adventure #leadership #valuesbasedleadership
