Mentorship is something we take seriously. Even and maybe especially when you can do it at scale. Engaging with women from all across the Kansas City metro at Mentoring Monday with the @kcbizjournal this morning was incredible. Anywhere you find a room bursting to the seams with passionate, smart, and activated women leaders does our heart good. So basically, today was like a major infusion of Omega-3s or an hour of cardio. The connections should come doctor recommended, really. They’re that good. Thank you to all of the mentors who came out to share their wisdom and to all of the mentees who stayed so warm and curious throughout the morning. It was a pleasure to be in community with you - and we can’t wait until next year! #women #leadership #mentor #mentorship

Congratulations, Shapree’ Marshall!
Meet Shapree' Marshall, one of our inspiring grant recipients who was able to attend 2024 Kingsport Office of Small Business Development and Entrepreneurship Awards thanks to the support of our Graduate Assistance Fund program. "I am truly grateful for the support I received, which enabled me to present my company, A Traveled Path Homes. Thanks to that assistance, I was honored to be awarded both funds and an award for my efforts." We are proud to support passionate individuals like Shapree and can't wait to see what she does next! If you'd like to be part of supporting the work of women like Shapree, consider sponsoring our upcoming Graduate Assistance Fund Awards Reception: https://lnkd.in/g5i3BrYR. #SupportingExcellence #FutureLeaders #UMKCWomensCouncil

When times are hard, you gather your people around you. These are the ones who uplift you, support you, and even challenge you when you need it. Here are a few of the people on our list - the InnovateHER Brain Trust, our leadership coming together to strategize, share truths, and have a few laughs along the way. 💗 Connect with community. Find your people. Love them extravagantly and inclusively. Then take on the world together. Not like we’re biased or anything but InnovateHER is a pretty great place to start. As you see. This month, we celebrate the brilliance, resilience, and impact of Black men and women throughout history - trailblazers who have shattered ceilings, broken barriers, and fought for a more just world. Their legacy is one we honor with deep gratitude and commitment. We recognize the painful truths of history. The harm inflicted, the inequities built into our systems, and the unearned advantages some have gained as a result. We see the gaps that remain, from systemic injustices to everyday microaggressions. And we commit to doing the real work required to create lasting change. No matter what’s happening out in the world, at IHKC we acknowledge and honor the Black diaspora and experience. To those who continue to push forward, to build, to advocate, and to lead, you have our deepest love and appreciation. Your contributions strengthen our communities, and we are dedicated to listening, learning, and ensuring your voices are valued in every space you choose to occupy. To those who choose to rest as revolution, we support you too. You have earned it. Your labor has uplifted us, often at great personal cost. Your pain is a reflection of our collective failure. Your resilience is a beacon. Your creativity, a gift. Your magic - undeniable. We’re here for it all. To Black men and women everywhere, and especially to the incredible Black women+ leaders of IHKC - we see you, this month and always. We are profoundly grateful for you and to you. Happy Black History Month, friends! With love, InnovateHER KC #BlackHistoryMonth #BlackHistory #Celebrate #Acknowledge #Women #Leadership #BlackLivesMatter #RepresentationMatters

It’s our founder, Lauren Conaway’s, birthday today! In honor of her birthday, why not donate to the coolest thing she has ever done? InnovateHER KC supports women and gender minorities in leadership across the Kansas City metro area. We offer social connections, a strong, supportive network, professional and leadership development, resources, and championship to our more than 8K members. We do all of this with a lens on low barrier to entry and inclusion. Through this work, we have cultivated a welcoming culture for all gender minorities who seek to thrive and take steps to empower other leaders. We call it “creating radical, positive change.” We hear the stories of impact every day. Tell us your story in the comments, share and like this post, and if you can, show us your support at the link: https://lnkd.in/gF_HmQVe (And yes, Lauren Conaway is typing this status and the whole third person thing feels weird and awkward in a self-serving, self-referential kind of way. It is what it is. 😜) #women #leadership #donate

Startups to Watch is one of those seminal startup events in KC because Startland News works incredibly hard to curate a stellar list of companies primed to make news and grab headlines in the coming year. And yep - this year that includes one of our fave innovateher-led companies, Hilltop Technologies. (Congrats, Conner Hazelrigg, MBA!) Feeling energized by the incredible innovation and talent on display in our entrepreneurial ecosystem; our fair city continues to shine as a hub for big ideas and bold moves. It’s always inspiring to see up-and-coming companies making waves 🌊 - our futures so bright, we gotta wear shades. 😎 #startups #entrepreneurship #kansascity #women #leadership
