Do you know who Thich Nhat Hanh is? He is the Monk Who Taught the World Mindfulness. He is quoted by Presidents and hailed by Oprah Winfrey as “One of the most influential spiritual leaders of our times.” In the West, Nhat Hanh is sometimes called the father of mindfulness. He famously taught that we could all find happiness in the simple things—in mindfully peeling an orange or sipping tea. “A Buddha is someone who is enlightened, capable of loving and forgiving,” he wrote in Your True Home, one of over 70 books he has authored. “You know that at times you’re like that. So, enjoy being a Buddha.” Nhat Hanh taught that you don’t have to spend years on a mountaintop to benefit from Buddhist wisdom. Instead, he says, just become aware of your breath, and through that, come into the present moment, where everyday activities can take on a joyful, miraculous quality. If you are mindful or fully present in the here and now, anxiety disappears, and a sense of timelessness takes hold, allowing your highest qualities, such as kindness and compassion, to emerge. What an incredible message and lesson for life. #WednesdayWisdom #LiveInspired #ThichNhatHanh

What Do You Want to Measure? Think of something in your life that you’d like to improve. How can you measure your performance with it? If it’s something easy to measure, you’re all set. However, not everything can be measured objectively, like money or calories, but there’s always a way. You can rate your impression of something on a scale of 1 to 10, such as your happiness. Make a chart of your progress each day. This can easily be done with a spreadsheet, but some graph paper and pencil work fine. Use whatever method works for you. What matters most in your life? Are you currently applying performance measurement to it? How can you know if you’re progressing toward your goal if you're not measuring it? There’s tremendous power in focusing on something and measuring it regularly. What will you measure? I'd love to know down below! 👇 #TIPPTuesday #LiveInspired #MeasureSuccess #GoalSetting #GoalGetter #Time

Self-awareness is one of the most important things you can possess. The key to enhancing your life is grounded in self-awareness. Awareness of self is essential for setting goals and creating the life you want. Without self-awareness, you’ll repeat your mistakes for the rest of your life. Most of us are pretty good at figuring out what makes a friend or family member tick. It’s much more challenging to develop the same understanding of YOURSELF. You spend so much time with yourself that it would be a shame not to have a high degree of knowledge about yourself. #MondayMotivation #SelfAwareness #LiveInspired

When cortisol levels are balanced, it keeps our immune system in check. Cortisol helps reduce inflammation and keeps its levels in check during an immune system response. When the cortisol levels are really high, the inflammation is reduced too much, and the immune system is suppressed to the point of not really functioning correctly. 💫 When we are stressed, cortisol and the rest of our hormonal team think something really challenging is happening, and we need all hands on deck. Let’s remove some of our resources from the immune, digestive, and reproductive systems while we care for this problem. When high stress levels are chronic and ever-present, rather than being dealt with and then disappearing, our stress hormones don’t have a chance to return everything back to normal. With all the modern stressors we face, it’s common for cortisol levels to stay high, which means that the immune system function remains low. This makes us more susceptible to colds, flu, and bacterial infections. It helps explain why we get sick at the worst times. 🤧 #LiveInspired #StressFreeSaturday
