Our Mission: To Increase the Use and Acceptance of Non-animal Test Methods Worldwide.
About us
The Institute for In Vitro Sciences, (IIVS) is a non-profit organization wholly dedicated to the advancement of alternative testing methods. Rigorous scientific and compliance programs coupled with Education and Outreach initiatives have established IIVS as a global leader in the advancement of alternatives to animal testing. IIVS was founded in 1997 and is a primary provider of in vitro testing methods in support of toxicological safety evaluations for both industry and government. To achieve our mission IIVS has created a framework based upon three integrated centers of excellence: Science, Education and Outreach. This foundation provides a unique forum in which our customers, contributors, regulatory agencies and animal protection organizations can work collaboratively to advance science and animal welfare. Whether you are just beginning to explore the possibility of alternative testing or you have strategically integrated alternatives within your testing programs, IIVS has the scientific resources and expertise to support you. Please contact us to learn more about how IIVS staff can help you with your alternative testing program. IIVS is proud to be supported by our generous contributors whose goals and principals align with ours. Their support is fundamental to the success of our Educational and Outreach programs. As we begin the year, IIVS invites you to consider becoming a supporter of our work. Our scientists work in the Washington, DC area and around the world to promote good in vitro science and to facilitate the use of non-animal methods for regulatory toxicology across chemical, pesticide, medical device, and personal care sectors. Our Education and Outreach trainings, workshops, expert comments, and guideline development are having an impact and we couldn't do it without consistent support from our contributors to cover our time, travel, and other expenses. Find out more about how you can work with us and support our work by emailing ksullivan@iivs.org or visiting our web site.
