Presenting inviting holiday treats – delicious favorites contributed by our people – and expressed with the same care, craft and rigor we bring to our work. May your season be filled with sweet moments, thoughtful details, and the joy of design! Brian Piippo, Architect, shares his special memories of Joulutorttu cookies... "It’s not Christmas for me until we make Joulutorttu cookies. As a kid, one year I put some out for Santa Clause who ate them all and left a note that they were his favorite cookie. I was so convinced, I got into a heated discussion with my friends at school about Santa Clause’s favorite cookie, ending up with me in the principal's office! The best memories for me are making them with everyone in the kitchen together, I cannot imagine a Christmas without these little cookies." #happyholidays #SpreadingHolidayCheer #tistheseason #HolidayTreats #FestiveFlavors #SeasonalSweets #CreativeDesign #WinterWarmers #Joulutorttu #Tähtitorttu #FinnishPinwheelCookies #JoyOfDesign #ThoughtfulDetails #SweetMoments

Funding has been approved for a major housing renovation and building program on the University of Idaho campus! Updating outdated 1960/70’s era buildings and adding numerous new buildings will reinvigorate campus residence options, improving the quality of life for single students and positioning the school to better attract graduate students with families. The initial scope of work kicking off this significant $162 million, 18 building venture includes renovating select undergraduate housing facilities, adding graduate student and family focused apartments, and providing a dynamic community center. Utility and street relocation is already underway. Integrus and YGH have longstanding relationships with the University of Idaho, with decades of work on campus and we value working on this latest project with partners including Gilbane Development Company, Rocky Mountain Companies, Lydig Construction and Design Collective. We’re excited to be part of this major redevelopment bringing a fresh experience to students unfolding in phases beginning in 2025 through 2027. Integrus is pleased to announce that Becky Barnhart, AIA, will serve as our next CEO, effective January 1, 2025. Her appointment by the Board of Directors marks the culmination of an organizational evolution at Integrus that began three years ago with the merger of Integrus and YGH Architects. As CEO, Becky will provide leadership and vision in our operational decisions, ensuring our daily practices align with our culture and values, that Integrus has fostered to create architecture for The Commons. Becky is the fourth CEO in Integrus’ 72-year history and will replace Brian Carter, AIA, who is retiring at the end of the year. Carter said, “Becky has been a natural leader since she began her career at Integrus two decades ago. And, having her leadership and vision in the operational side of our practice is critical as we strive to embody our beliefs in our work and create resilient solutions for communities. I am enthusiastic as I look to Integrus’ future, creating meaningful places in the public realm.”

We’re pleased to announce two AIA Seattle Honor Award design wins! Of 118 entries and 18 selected winners, we are thrilled to be recognized by the jury for both a school and public library designed to provide a positive and purposeful presence in their communities. And we very much appreciate the jury comments which really grasped the intersection of beauty in design as well as thoughtful intent in developing spaces to serve the users of these very distinct buildings… Award of Merit | Peperzak Middle School This dynamic middle school overlooks the spectacular Palouse wheat fields of Eastern Washington. Named for Carla Olman Peperzak, a local 99-year-old Holocaust survivor and educator, it features an adaptable design supporting the guiding principles to build a ‘community of belonging’ and ‘learning happening everywhere’. Building orientation leverages the benefits of its unparalled setting for views, daylight, and outdoor learning opportunities. An innovative learning space arrangement organizes classroom neighborhoods connected to a two-story open ‘heart of the school’ linked by a social stair for collaboration and interaction. The building’s form and finishes take inspiration from its agricultural context with durable zinc metal panels evoking utilitarian buildings of nearby farms, while masonry color and subtle texture take cues from nearby wheat fields. Jury comments noted... ‘This is such an awesome building, there are so many great things to say about it. Designing schools is an incredible responsibility and we love how the school is organized and presents itself strongly in its context by connecting to its beautiful environment and the use of long lasting durable local materials. It all comes down to engaging with students, faculty and administrators and then creating imaginative classrooms and communal learning areas. The episodic composition of its lovely exterior and interior spaces with exposed structure strikes a balance between the town facing entry and field views.” #aiaseattlehonorawards #schoolawards #architecturalawards #spokanepublicschools #awardwinningdesign #celebratinggreatdesign Spokane Public Schools Garco Construction, Inc.
