Project Spotlight: Kingsborough Middle School Additions & Renovations This project consisted of the renovation to the Main Buildings (includes new windows, roofs and ADA/Life Safety Upgrades), renovation of PE Dressing Rooms in the Gyms and the addition of a new kitchen and six new classrooms as well as paving and drainage improvements to bus drop-off and staff parking lots. IES provided structural engineering services in the completion of the building. IES team members had a wonderful time at the “Aid the Silent Gala” on February 8, 2025, at the Witte Museum. The event benefited children with hearing disabilities, a cause that deeply resonates with us. On Friday February 7, 2025, IES employees from the McAllen Office attended a topping out ceremony for a project at the Center for Urban Ecology, which includes multiple structures spread out over acres of land with the main feature being a steel framed bird skeleton. Project Spotlight: Lila Cockrell Theatre Renovations Completed in 2010, The renovated 2,500 seat auditorium includes multiple elevated balconies, a basement with rehearsal halls, green rooms and meeting space all totaling 108,000 SF. The basement level of the theatre that is adjacent to the San Antonio River Walk was remodeled to include meeting rooms and pre-function space that spills out onto the San Antonio River to create a venue for business meetings, weddings and banquets. IES provided structural engineering services in the completion of the building. Project Spotlight: UHS Women and Children’s Hospital Opening in December 2023, The 14-story 698,000 sf Women’s and Children’s hospital houses close to 300 beds and contains a dedicated pediatric emergency department, private NICU and pediatric rooms, and women’s urgent care center. Included in the project is a 900 car patient/visitor garage connected directly to the hospital by a bridge. IES provided structural engineering services in the completion of the building. Project Spotlight: Churchill High School Athletic Building and Improvements This facility includes: a new soccer field; reorienting the existing baseball field into a north-northeast direction; a new athletic facility at the location of the existing soccer area; four tennis courts along the southern campus boundary; relocation of the shot put and discus throw areas; construction of an outdoor athletic storage building, concession stands area and public restrooms; a new water-cooled central plant; and demolition of the existing athletic facility and replacement with parking. IES provided structural engineering services in the completion of this building.
