The image tells a familiar story: a housing development framed in wood, soaked and muddy after a heavy downpour. As anyone in the construction industry knows, weather can be a significant obstacle, causing delays, increasing costs, and compromising the quality of materials. But there is a better way forward – offsite construction with prefabricated cold-formed steel. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐖𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫-𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭: By fabricating components in a controlled environment, offsite construction minimizes the impact of weather conditions. This means no more waterlogged materials or muddy construction sites. 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥: Manufacturing in a factory setting allows for rigorous quality control measures, ensuring precision and consistency in every component. 𝐅𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐬: Offsite construction can significantly reduce build times, as assembly on-site is quicker and more efficient. 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞: Precise manufacturing processes mean less material waste, contributing to more sustainable building practices. #ConstructionInnovation #OffsiteConstruction #ColdFormedSteel #Prefabrication #SustainableBuilding #FutureOfConstruction #CFS #Prefab #ModularHousing #Prefabrication

Which is more Sustainable: Wood or Steel? Steel and wood both have roles to play in sustainable construction, and the environmental impact of each depends heavily on sourcing and lifecycle considerations. While wood from regenerative farms is indeed renewable and can act as a carbon sink, its sustainability largely hinges on responsible forestry practices. Unfortunately, very few wood products on the market come from such sources, which perpetuate the opposite and lead to deforestation, habitat loss, and carbon release during land clearing. On the other hand, steel is infinitely recyclable without loss of quality, and using recycled steel significantly reduces emissions compared to virgin steel production. According to studies, recycling steel can cut CO₂ emissions by up to 70%. Additionally, the durability, resiliency and reusability of steel provide long-term sustainability benefits, reducing the need for replacements and further resource extraction. Steel’s strength-to-weight ratio also allows for design efficiencies, which can lower material use in certain applications. In essence, the most sustainable choice often depends on the specific context of the project and how the material is sourced, processed, and utilized. Steel however seems to be clear winner while recognizing both wood and steel have, if wood sourced right sustainable contributions. When selecting a material type one must explore prioritizing traceable sourcing and efficient reuse strategies, aligning with the principles of circular economy. #cfs #coldformedsteel #sustainable #renewable #carbonoffset #intellisteel #offsite #steelframing

Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. We must be insane? We continue to build with outdated, inferior and diminishing quality materials, at a speed that has never kept up with demand and has pushed us into and maintained a housing deficit nationwide. You can’t help but recognize that we haven’t improved anything and only made the affordability and quality worse as a result. When water, rain, flood, surge, and general moisture wreak such havoc on wood framing, such as: mold, mildew, warping, contraction, expansion, and twisting of the framing that cost short, mid and long-term repairs and replacement upon the structures we live in You can’t help, but wonder why we continue to build with wood. The rising cost of insurance rates are screaming at us to make a change or continue to pay the prices that will only rise. Considering the innovations, advancements, and alternatives that have come to Construction and Framing over the past 20 years that provide significant cost savings, speed to construct, quality of material, and its resiliency and resistance to mold, mildew, termites, fire, hurricane and flood - shouldn’t you be considering the change to Intellisteel Coldform Steel? Wood hard cost every time, on every project, and every state we operate. Owners and developers, contact us and will show you. #CFS #ColdFormedSteel #Sustainable #resilient #offsite #Intellisteel #SteelFraming #panelized

Robert, spot on! It is astonishing!! With the rapid intensification of fires across the US and the obvious tinder box construction methodology we build with today and have accepted as "good enough" for over 100 years - it amazes me that knowing Cold Formed Steel Framing is cheaper than wood hard costs alone; before the immense insurance, waste/dumpster, time savings, everyone has simply conceded to the lowest common denominator and decided we just cant do better becuase: "it is what we have always done", or "it is how the GC's are telling us it is cheaper to build with wood" (when it isn't), or "we just have never done it with steel before" or, "we dont know how to price it"......come on. That is just weak and pathetic excuses in order to avoid the obvious shift that is taking place. And this my friend, is how industries become irrelevant (i.e. VHS, AOL, Photo Camera's, etc). However, every other industry has been positively impacted and advanced for the better through technology....except the construction industry. Why? Because no one is even considering the options, the cheaper, faster, higher quality, more sustainable ways to build. So, we keep on keeping on with worse material quality, broken supply chains, diminishing labor quality, elongated schedules, poorer quality builds all while adding waste to the landfills. It is astonishing just how far we have not come. #cfs #coldformedsteel #offsite #sustainable #steelframing #intellisteel #panelization

Non-Combustible Housing is the Future of Construction (and a Relief for Insurance Companies) In an era where safety, sustainability, and risk mitigation are more important than ever, constructing non-combustible housing isn’t just a trend—it’s a necessity. Materials like cold-formed steel significantly reduce the risk of fire, making buildings safer and more durable. But here’s where it gets interesting: Insurance companies love it. Non-combustible structures mean fewer claims, lower risk, and ultimately lower premiums for developers and homeowners alike. When homes are built to withstand fires, everyone wins—lives are safer, and the long-term costs of ownership drop. As the construction industry shifts towards safer, more resilient methods, it’s crucial to adopt solutions that benefit both builders and residents. Non-combustible housing is that solution, and the future is looking fireproof. #ColdFormedSteel #CFS #LightGaugeSteel #LGS #NonCombustible #InsuranceSavings #LessRisk #Prefabrication #Prefab
