What an incredible journey it has been the 11th International Congress on Biocatalysis! Over the past few days, we have experienced groundbreaking research, innovative discussions and established new cooperations that will shape the landscape of biocatalysis. A huge thanks to all the 365 participants from 40 nations with 40% from industry, 59 speakers, 60 lightning talk speakers, 220 poster presenters and sponsors (Enzyme Technology Alliance, Sunresin New Materials Co. Ltd., Enzymaster Deutschland GmbH, Amano Enzyme, American Elements, ChiralVison B.V., SynSilico/InnoSyn B.V., Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - German Research Foundation and Office of Naval Research Global (ONR Global) who made #biocat2024 possible. Your dedication and passion for advancing biocatalysis inspire us. And a very special thank you to the best team of the world from Andreas Liese‘s Institute of Technical Biocatalysis - TUHH, Gescher's Lab of Technical Microbiology - TUHH and Anna Heins‘ Institute of Bioprocess and Biosystems Engineering. Together we address the sustainable development goals, where the Technische Universität Hamburg as home of #biocat2024, stands for as United Nations University Hub. At the International Congress on Biocatalysis held at the Technische Universität Hamburg, each congress outstanding individuals are given the biocat award in the categories “Academic Research”, “Industrial Research” and “Lifetime Achievement” to acknowledge their accomplishment in the field of biocatalysis. The awards given out during the congress dinner cruise onboard the Louisiana Star of this year’s 11th International Congress on Biocatalysis are: Prof. Dr. Rebecca Buller-Blomberg (Zurich University of Applied Sciences, Switzerland) for Academic Research Prof. Dr. Carlos Martínez (Pfizer Pharmaceuticlas, USA) for Industrial Research Prof. Dr. Roland Wohlgemuth (Lodz University of Technology, Poland) for Lifetime Achievement. „biocat2024“ International Congress on Biocatalysis at Technische Universität Hamburg is in full swing with 365 participant. The opening ceremony was accompanied by the pupils choir Gospel Train (www.gospeltrain.hamburg). Plenary lectures by Carlos Martinez (Pfizer) Roland Wohlgemuth (Politechnika Łódzka) and Dr. Sven Hansen (Evonik) were an excellent start.
