📢 Welcome to our newest member: Zoo Poznań Education Team! We're thrilled to introduce this dynamic team of nine educators working across two unique sites in Poznań, Poland. Their educational impact spans from a historic 6-hectare Old Zoo in the city center to a vast 120-hectare New Zoo in the suburbs! 🌳 The team delivers innovative educational programs, including: - Interactive lessons and workshops for school groups - Specialized programs for visitors with disabilities, including audio descriptions and - - Polish Sign Language resources - Virtual learning experiences and outreach programs - Community engagement through visits to schools, kindergartens, and nursing homes As an EAZA member, Zoo Poznań actively participates in EEP and Regional Breeding Programs, contributing to both ex-situ and in-situ conservation. The New Zoo is home to diverse mammals, birds, and invertebrates, plus 140+ wild vertebrate species! We are pleased to welcome David Pagé as the new Regional Representative for North America! David is the Director of Conservation and Education at Zoo Sauvage de Saint-Félicien, where he has worked since 2013. There, he held several positions, including educator and zookeeper. He leads the education team and oversees the Zoo’s conservation initiatives, focusing on fostering meaningful connections with visitors and supporting the preservation of boreal biodiversity. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a certificate in creative writing from Laval University. Having grown up in his small northern town with the Zoo Sauvage, he is passionate about its educational impact and the difference it can make. His goal within the IZE community is to contribute by supporting others and advancing education as a community. David is a mid-term replacement for Colleen Cavanaugh, who has served as the North America Regional Rep since October 2023. Colleen is stepping down from the role due to an exciting life change which takes her away from Houston Zoo and to New Zealand, where she hopes to remain involved with the IZE community!

Let us introduce Diogo Gomes, the coordinator of educational programmes from Lisbon Zoo. My name is Diogo Gomes, and I'm the coordinator of educational programmes at Lisbon Zoo, where I've had the privilege of working for the last 13 years. When I came across the challenge launched by IZE, asking to nominate an education legend with whom I've worked, the answer that came to my mind was obvious. Although I'm going to break the rules and not name just one person, I have to say that the real legends I work with every day are the zoo educators of my team. The level of commitment, effort and dedication they put into each educational programme and, above all, the way they embrace every challenge with a smile, make these educators the true heroes of Conservation Education.
