🎯 We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in the #InterOPERA project: the successful installation and commissioning of the new hardware component aimed at advancing interoperability in #HVDC grids. In September representatives from Réseau de Transport d'Électricité visited Hitachi Energy in Ludvika to conduct hands-on verification of the first of two Hitachi Energy Converter Station and DC Switching Station Control and Protection(C&P) systems. Just a few weeks later, in the second week of October, the system was installed and commissioned in Lyon, France. And the system was fully operational in Monopole STATCOM mode in just three days! 👏 Hitachi Energy is now preparing the second C&P hardware replica at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. 📢 Publication alert: new paper on multi-terminal #DC grids The interoperability of vendor controls is crucial to the success of multi-vendor, multi-terminal DC systems. The paper studies the stability issue in a multi-terminal #HVDC grid where multiple vendors implement different control strategies for DC voltage regulation. Here are the key findings from the study: 🎯 DC voltage droop control significantly influences the dynamics of multi-terminal DC grids. 🎯 Two DC voltage droop control strategies can coexist in a multi-terminal DC grid, despite some limitations regarding dynamic performance. 🎯 DC reactors, essential components of DC circuit breakers, can negatively affect the damping of DC voltage. Check out the study 👉 https://bit.ly/3zWJlbK This work is a significant contribution to Work Package 2 of InterOPERA aiming to ensure the interoperability and modular design of HVDC components from various suppliers. Stay tuned for more insights and advancements in the field! #HVDC #InterOPERA #RenewableEnergy #DCGrid SuperGrid Institute Mohamed Elsodany Kosei Shinoda alberto bertinato Seddik BACHA Jing DAI

When in Rome... #InterOPERA partners were in Rome this week for the official kick-off of Task 2 of Work Package 5, focusing on the procurement strategy and preparation for future projects. 💡 This task aims to provide comprehensive recommendations, including contract proposals, for crucial issues that must be considered in the final terms and conditions for various contracts concerning the main electrical components for future Multi-Vendor Multi-Terminal (MVMT) projects. During the kick-off, hosted by Terna SpA, project partners engaged in a series of workshops to identify essential contractual clauses and define the best tender procedures for procuring the goods required for the realization of #HVDC MVMT systems. This collaborative effort is pivotal in ensuring the seamless integration of multi-vendor solutions, fostering innovation, and enhancing efficiency in our future projects. Let the work begin! 💪 Christian Sarchese Emanuele Marsella John Nicholas Morris Moore xavier BOURGEAT Christoph Gringmuth

📣 Our New Report is Out! Adequate HVDC and wind power plant models and replicas to assess interoperability are key for the development of multi-vendor multi-terminal HVDC grids. InterOPERA partners joined their efforts in defining the minimum requirements for the provision of models and replicas, considering several challenges: - Finding the fine tuning between accessibility and IP protection - Paving the way to a long-term use of the models and replicas - Having adequate performances - Being well documented and practical to use. A report, gathering a total of about 150 requirements that are justified and self-assessed to facilitate their dissemination and good use, is now available! ❗ Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/dWDNirJR Alexandra BONNET #HVDC #windenergy #windpower #offshorewind #InterOPERA

📈 The hardware component of the #InterOPERA project is advancing steadily. At the end of last month, representatives from Réseau de Transport d'Électricité and Delft University of Technology successfully conducted the official Factory System Test (FST) and hands-on training for the two Siemens Energy Converter Station Control and Protection (C&P) replicas at the Siemens Energy HVDC Testing Center in Forchheim, Germany. Two weeks later, the setup assigned to the RTE lab was delivered, installed, and commissioned in Jonage (Lyon), France. 🛠 Siemens Energy is now preparing for the installation at TU Delft in the Netherlands and is ready to set up the other converter station in that lab. The subsequent phase will involve additional vendors delivering their C&P replicas. ❗ Stay tuned for further updates as the project continues to progress. #InterOPERA #HVDC #energy #offshorewindenergy #technology
