INGAA members' ~200,000 miles of pipeline serve as an indispensable link between US natural gas producers and consumers
About us
The Interstate Natural Gas Association of America (INGAA) is a trade organization that advocates regulatory and legislative positions of importance to the natural gas pipeline industry in North America. INGAA represents virtually all of the interstate natural gas transmission pipeline companies operating in the U.S., as well as comparable companies in Canada and Mexico. Our members transport natural gas nationwide through a network of 200,000 miles of pipelines. The interstate natural gas pipeline industry has two principal federal regulators: the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is responsible for the economic regulation of pipelines, while the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Pipeline Safety oversees the industry's safety efforts.

Responding to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s report: Energy, Economic, and Environmental Assessment of U.S. LNG Exports, INGAA President & CEO Amy Andryszak says: "“The premise that exporting large volumes of U.S. LNG might cause domestic energy prices to increase assumes that there is neither sufficient natural gas nor the infrastructure necessary to transport the fuel around the country. We know that the U.S. has abundant natural gas, and the U.S. has roughly a decade of data reaffirming that increased exports of U.S. LNG to our allies and trading partners has not impacted prices for American consumers. In fact, a new study analyzing the impact of U.S. LNG on the domestic economy from S&P Global shows that continuing to export the fuel would have negligible impact on household natural gas costs. But demand for natural gas is growing, both at home and internationally. To meet rising demand, we need to build additional infrastructure to transport gas from production basins to end users, be they residences, businesses, or our allies overseas in the form of LNG. “INGAA members are ready, willing, and able to build out additional pipeline infrastructure so that we can provide more gas to domestic consumers and support our allies abroad with American energy. We have proven for nearly a decade that we can and must do both, and we intend to continue to do so, in spite of this study.” https://lnkd.in/eM_fsDU2

In INGAA's latest blog pots, President & CEO Amy Andryszak calls out flawed claims in a recent study conducted by Rewiring America. "Ultimately, public sentiment continues to favor natural gas as a reliable and affordable energy option, in Republican and Democratic districts alike. Last month, Washington state voted to block a proposed ban on gas stoves. In Berkeley, California, voters rejected a ballot measure that would have increased taxes on property owners of large buildings that rely on natural gas for heating, cooking and other uses. Natural gas remains a cornerstone of America’s energy portfolio, delivering the affordability, reliability, and efficiency that families and businesses use every day. While bold claims about emissions reductions and cost savings may capture headlines, they must be evaluated against real-world data and consumer behavior." Read more: https://lnkd.in/eVbmMJDT

The INGAA Foundation is excited to announce the release of its newest best practices document: Practical Guide For Environmental Inspectors. The guide offers a new perspective in assessing and documenting construction activities as it relates to environmental and sensitive features in or near the construction area. It is intended to ensure pipeline-operator and construction-contractor compliance with permitting and landowner agreements. Special thanks to Michael Istre and Jiva Consulting for their work on this important guideline. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eZq--QCt
