Head of Product @ IoTeX 🤖

Singapore Token2049 this past week was incredible! 🙌 A lot of us building in DePIN (Decentralized Physical infra networks) are so in the weeds with DePIN that we forget there is a whole other world out there that we should be actively trying to attract into the space. As Head of Product it's my obligation to keep these different customer/user segments in mind as we build out our product suite and generally refine our pitch. I am trying to bring a much more inclusive approach to my keynote speeches, panels and conversations. The power of talking to all these user segments can't be understated. Talking about real and tangible use cases and real revenue I have found is key. Next: Koh Samui, Thailand for the Island Dao Hackathon for some heads down building, podcast content creation and more networking!

Bridged USDC Standard from Circle is now LIVE on the IoTeX Network. Welcome $USDC.e 🪙 This deployment unlocks enhanced compatibility for builders and seamless transactions for users, making $USDC.e a powerful addition to the IoTeX stablecoin landscape. The deployment of $USDC.e also paves the way for a future upgrade to native $USDC on IoTeX. Why it matters for DePIN: Stablecoins like $USDC.e provide store of value, simplified settlement for payments and commerce, and a reliable way for both users and machines to transact – all vital ingredients for #DePIN's growth and user adoption. https://lnkd.in/evRgXEqp

IPFS and Filecoin Foundation is now the preferred storage primitive of IoTeX’s modular DePIN infrastructure. With 2900+ storage nodes around 40 countries, any DePIN project building with our infra is able to access the powerful Filecoin network via services such as Lighthouse.storage or Web3.Storage. Why is storage important for DePIN? DePIN's Storage Module is crucial for handling large datasets generated by various projects. This data can be media files, sensor readings, or AI outputs, and can be shared with authorized parties through secure storage APIs. Decentralized storage = powerful benefits. Many IoT devices have limited storage capacity. Decentralized storage like Filecoin solves this by allowing secure storage & retrieval near the device itself. DePIN applications can even reward data and device owners for their contributions. IoTeX 2.0's modular infrastructure requires configuration for provers & DePIN Infrastructure Modules (DIMs). Filecoin's IPFS protocol enables verifiable storage & retrieval of these configurations, making them publicly accessible for faster bootstrapping of other DePIN projects. For IoTeX 2.0, Filecoin is contributing to the most robust and highest quality DePIN infra helping DePINs go-to-market in a fraction of the time. Together we are fostering interoperability & composability within DePIN, creating a global hub for device-generated data that can be shared & utilized by any application. IoTeX 2.0 is here. Read the new whitepaper: iotex.io/2.0 Today we unveil our new vision upgrading the IoTeX L1 blockchain into an open Modular Infrastructure for all DePINs. The new whitepaper provides a comprehensive tech stack including composable modules and a unified trust layer to accelerate DePIN adoption. All underpinned by our new tokenomics design that links together the interconnected set of DePIN Dapps, L2 chains, modules, and devices. IoTeX 2.0 is embarking on a new roadmap to onboard 100 million devices and unlock trillions of dollars in real-world value on chain within the next 3-5 years. Realizing IoTeX’s mission of “DePIN for Everyone”. "At IoTeX, we firmly believe small teams with big hearts should have full support to build impactful DePINs. Because together, we can make more. That is the foundation of IoTeX's 2.0 mission to democratize DePIN for everyone." - Raullen Chai, CEO & Cofounder of IoTeX https://lnkd.in/esihcER5

The power of zero-knowledge tech for DePIN verification is indisputable – that's why the IoTeX research team continues to push it forward. Head of Research Xinxin Fan, Ph.D., CISSP's recent paper makes a breakthrough in DePIN device registration, ensuring sensitive device info remains confidential with ZKPs. "Towards Credential-based Device Registration in DApps for DePINs with ZKPs" will be presented at the prestigious SPB 2024 symposium. Congrats Xinxin! Read more below.

Bringing ZKPs to market. Stanford CodeX Fellow. National Law Journal Trailblazer.

Is your device lying to you? Verifying whether infrastructure devices are producing accurate and secure data is becoming increasingly important. An excellent solution to the problem of device inaccuracy is explored in a recent paper, "Towards Credential-based Device Registration in DApps for DePINs with ZKPs" authored by Jonathan Heiss, Fernando Castillo, and Xinxin Fan, Ph.D., CISSP. The authors detail a mechanism for device credentials that solves a trust gap for IoT sensors, wireless providers, location trackers, and other devices. These devices are part of decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN)—a growing sector. The authors' key contribution is applying zero knowledge proofs (ZKPs) to verify device credentials on-chain while preserving the confidentiality of sensitive attributes. ZKPs can verify that sensors have sufficient capabilities without exposing exact specifications, that connectivity services meet minimum bandwidth and range requirements, and that device locations are accurate without revealing precise coordinates. At NovaNet (from ICME), we are building ZKPs that are closely embedded into DePINs as proposed in the paper. NovaNet ZKPs are highly memory efficient and portable. This enables them to provide a wide variety of off-chain proofs and on-chain verification services. I highly recommend the paper to learn about the path forward for DePIN and ZKP. #Blockchain #IoT #ZKP #DePIN #Crypto #ZeroKnowledge #verifiablecomputer
