  • 🌿 November is Native American Heritage Month 🌿 honoring the rich history, culture, and contributions of Native American communities. At IPS we believe its important to acknowledge the practices that have significantly shaped many of our modern wellness approaches, particularly through the use of herbal and plant-based remedies. Here are five traditional natural remedies from Native communities that have long been used for pain relief 👉 1 🪵Willow Bark - Often referred to as “nature’s aspirin,” willow bark contains salicin, a compound similar to aspirin, and was used to reduce pain and inflammation, especially for headaches and joint pain. 2 🍛Turmeric - Native to parts of the Americas, turmeric was used as an anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving agent. 3 🌵Devil’s Claw - Known for its powerful anti-inflammatory properties, it has been used to treat arthritis, muscle pain, and digestive discomfort. 4 🌶️ Capsaicin (from chili peppers) - Indigenous people used chili peppers to relieve muscle and joint pain. 5 🌿 Sweetgrass and Sage - Used in smudging ceremonies for mental and emotional pain relief. Today, aromatherapy and smudging are popular practices for stress relief, supporting nervous system health in managing pain. These remedies reflect the Native wisdom that continues to shape integrative approaches to wellness today. 📣 Did you know?? In North Carolina, we recognize eight Tribal and four Urban Indian Communities connected to this land—whose traditions have shaped our region and enriched our understanding of resilience and community. These communities account for 122,000+ individuals, making NC the largest population of Native Americans east of the Mississippi River. They include: 🔸Coharie 🔸Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians 🔸Lumbee Tribe of NC 🔸Haliwa-Saponi 🔸Sappony 🔸Meherrin 🔸Ocaneechi Band of Saponi 🔸Waccamaw Siouan Call us today to learn more about how we can develop a personalized integrative care plan just for you. Don’t forget to ask about our patient education and peer group visits when you call! ☎️ 910.687.4888 #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth #Lumbee #Cherokee #Sapponi #Meherrin #OcaneechiSaponi #WaccamawSiouan #Coharie #HaliwaSaponi #NorthCarolina #GratitudeHealing #MindfulLiving #PainManagement #CommunityCare

  • 🗳️ Election Day is here, and for many, it can feel especially stressful – particularly for those managing chronic pain, as stress can heighten pain responses. Today, let’s take small steps to help stay grounded and alleviate stress while keeping our nervous system balanced. Here are a few ways to navigate Election Day stress 👉👉 1. Take Mini-Breaks – Step outside or away from screens every couple of hours to reset your mind and help prevent emotional overload. 2. Breathing Exercises – Practicing deep, mindful breaths for even just a few minutes can lower stress hormones and help reduce muscle tension. 3. Limit Media Intake – Choose designated times to check updates rather than continuously scrolling, as constant exposure can increase stress. 4. Movement – Gentle stretching or a short walk releases endorphins, our body’s natural pain relievers. 5. Community Support – Connecting with others, even with a quick check-in or supportive message, can remind us that we’re not alone. Remember, our clinic is here to support you! Reach out to schedule an appointment or ask about our support groups that bring people together to share and learn. Managing stress together helps us better manage pain. 🌱 #ElectionDay #StressRelief #MindfulMovement #ChronicPainManagement #IntegratedPainSolutions
