A recent PublicSource article sheds light on a pressing issue in Allegheny County: older Black men, especially those born between 1951 and 1970, are disproportionately impacted by overdose deaths. This crisis is fueled by systemic challenges like inequitable drug policies, economic hardships, and barriers to treatment access. As professionals dedicated to supporting vulnerable populations, it’s crucial to understand how these systemic factors intersect with our work. Programs like Connect Protect Recover are making strides, but more community-driven, trauma-informed approaches are urgently needed. https://lnkd.in/eH9KXui2
