ISACA Los Angeles Chapter reposted this
Thomas Phelps, thank you for your invaluable contribution and dedication to California State University, Los Angeles students, and young professionals in the Los Angeles area! On behalf of Ming Wang, Arun Aryal, myself, and the students who attended your workshop, we extend our deepest appreciation. Your insights on "Getting Your First Job and Promotion" were incredibly impactful, leaving students inspired and empowered to take the next steps in their careers. We’re also grateful to Lucia Lam and Audrey S. from Laserfiche for sharing their expertise and guidance and to Faron Lyons, Jordan C., Leslie Koffi, PMP, and Joshua Onyena from the ISACA Los Angeles Chapter for representing ISACA and sharing volunteer opportunities with interested students. It truly takes a village to uplift and guide the next generation. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to fostering growth and partnering with us to connect learning with real-world opportunities. We look forward to your continued impact at California State University, Long Beach, next year!
According to an LA Times article by Teresa Watanabe, CSU Chancellor Mildred García, Ed.D. said in an interview, "We have to show students what’s the endgame. It’s not graduation. It’s how do we connect graduation to either a career that they’re studying or graduate school and help them get to that? That’s what families want, right?" Absolutely! This week at California State University, Los Angeles, I led a two hour workshop on "Getting Your First Job and Promotion". Over 100 students registered from the College of Business. This event was supported by ISACA Los Angeles Chapter, the inaugural chapter of ISACA, where I serve as the past-president and current membership chair. Thanks to Laserfiche's Lucia Lam and Audrey Song for speaking and giving career advice to students. I appreciate these outstanding professors for the invitation to speak: Daniel Razmjou Arun Aryal Ming Wang Please check out these student profiles if you have any internship opportunities at your organizations: Christopher Serrano Jimmy Rodriguez Chris Panosian Jae Kim Andrew Pang Xuewen Tang Nicholas L. Joshua Lovato Micah M. Glorian Gaskins I got home after 10 PM on Thursday, but it was well worth it. Together, we can make a difference! Next up is California State University, Long Beach around March 2025, so please join me. #ISACA
