Last month I shared from the #EAIE2024 Conference about the meaningful connections we make with our global community and how these relationships inspire us to continue our important work. Little did I know that I would soon appear in The PIE's 50 Voices of 2024 – North America Edition among so many stellar colleagues. My heartfelt congratulations to each leader, disrupter, rising star and policymaker included in this publication. Let us continue our collaborations! I encourage everyone to review the complete publication and congratulate each person you know. This recognition is a true honor that needs to be celebrated! https://lnkd.in/ez-yiPTG Thank you, The PIE, for acknowledging my efforts to advance #ISEPStudyAbroad’s work and how we are breaking down barriers to make study abroad accessible for students. It’s wonderful to kick off our engagement at EAIE: European Association for International Education with a workshop on systemic internationalization led by Dr. Marina Casals Sala, our new Director of Memeber Relations for Europe. Being a part of ISEP is more than mobility; it is about building a strong and resilient community of professionals capable of making education abroad a reality in complex and changing environments. As Marina says, we need the whole institution to be involved to succeed. Why should they be involved? What is the real purpose of strategic internationalization? How do we convert administative blockers into advocates on campus? #SUCTI #internationalisation #internationalization #systemic #changemakers

ISEP President John Lucas hosted a spectacular dinner and strategy session with ISEP Study Abroad Board members, global staff and friends from the International Association of Universities, and The Forum on Education Abroad. What is the role of university exchange in a polarized world? How do we stand up for our values while maintaining open dialogue across deep differences? Thank you Torian L. Lee, J.D., Hilligje van't Land , Marissa Lombardi, Kristen Aguto and Brooke Hain for the thoughtful conversation and ideas to inaugurate our week at EAIE. Thank you to the Cercle de l'Union Interalliée for the warm Parisian reception. This association has been a wonderful place to exchange ideas since its founding in 1917. Born as a place for the Allied nations to reconnect and share ideas, it remains a place for cross-cultural dialogue in France. Merci à tous; on se donne rendez-vous demain à Toulouse!

We are excited to announce the launch of a comprehensive long-term outcome assessment study of ISEP alumni. This evaluation is being led by Liudmila Mikhailova, Ph.D., an international educator and senior evaluation specialist with over 25 years of experience in managing and evaluating U.S. federal government programs, including international exchange initiatives funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). Dr. Mikhailova is joined by Caroline Rakus-Wojciechowski, who brings valuable expertise as an Evaluation Associate. Together, they are collaborating closely with ISEP senior executives and ISEP staff to ensure the success of this project. Since 1979, ISEP Study Abroad has created opportunities for more than 60,000 students to study internationally, and we’re excited to understand the impact our programs have had for our participants and university partners. As part of this mixed-methods evaluation, the team recently completed a series of focus groups with ISEP alumni from around the globe. Many thanks to all the participants who took the time to share their experiences! Early next year we will launch a comprehensive alumni survey as we continue to explore the outcomes of our programs—if you are an ISEP alum, please be sure to watch for the survey. We want to hear from you! Pictured: A recent alumni focus group meeting.

✨ What an incredible afternoon at the ISEP Coordinator Workshop earlier this week during the #NAFSA Conference in New Orleans! Attendees learned a lot and had some fun 😉 – the laughter could be heard from outside the room! A huge thank you to ISEP’s Katie Wiggins-Gawlik, M.A., Nicole Meanor, and Graeson Dwyer, M.S. for leading attendees through lively discussions and activities. 🎉 This year’s theme, “ISEP Olympics,” inspired us to elevate our international education practices. From exploring cross-cultural communication and expectation management to strategizing sustainable support practices for our teams and students, the workshop offered insights and practical strategies. We’re grateful for the global collaboration and the opportunity to reflect on how we can best support our community! #NAFSA24 #StudyAbroad #ISEPStudyAbroad #InternationalEducation
