The Dependable Data-Driven Discovery (D4) NRT at Iowa State University is an interdisciplinary training program designed to prepare the next generation of researchers to address dependability challenges in AI and data science. Fellowship is available for underrepresented groups of students in STEM graduate programs, such as women and minority students. The training program consists of a boot camp, coursework, research experience, seminars, and industry experiential learning experience. The training program can be completed in three semesters. We are excited to welcome our new Graduate Career Services Lead, Dr. Svitlana Zbarska. She will develop and coordinate career training and coaching, assess career outcomes and program evaluation data, and collaborate with other career services units and industry partners. Dr. Zbarska received her Ph.D. in Neuroscience with Excellence in Research from Iowa State University in 2007. After that, she was a leading scientist on several research projects at the Department of Biomedical Sciences and the Department of Genetics and Cell Biology at ISU. During the last 9 years, Dr. Zbarska led the Undergraduate Research Office Campus-wide and managed programs that promote undergraduate research opportunities across campus. She is originally from Ukraine where she received her BS in Physics and MS in Biophysics with Honors from the Shevchenko National University, Kyiv, Ukraine. Dr. Zbarska is passionate about encouraging and advocating for graduate students’ career readiness and employment.

Congratulations to our Associate Dean, Dr. Michelle Soupir. She was named one of 11 2024 Fellows for the ASABE - American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers.

Only one month has passed, but the Graduate College already feels like home!

Welcoming Connor Blair! He will be working alongside Jackie and assisting the Graduate College with Workday configuration and testing, data conversion, troubleshooting and resolving issues, identifying product gaps, and continuously improving Workday for graduate education. Fun fact: he enjoys baking bread in his free time!
