The Leopard now streaming on Netflix 🇮🇹 🇺🇸 Netflix’s latest Italian production, The Leopard – Il Gattopardo, is now available on the platform. This six-episode adaptation of Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s novel revisits the political and social transformations of 19th-century Sicily, over 60 years after Luchino Visconti’s renowned film, that won the Palme d'Or for Best Film at the Cannes Film Festival in 1963. Yesterday marked the opening of the 20th edition of the film festival “Los Angeles, Italia.” The event welcomed key representatives from the Sistema Italia in LA, including General Consul of Italy in Los Angeles Raffaella Valentini, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute Emanuele Amendola, and the Trade Commissioner Giosafat Rigano'. The Festival opening night saw also the creative team behind the Oscar-nominated short live-action film "Anuja": FABRIZIO MANCINELLI (music composer), Adam J. We are pleased to announce that the 20th edition of the "Los Angeles Italia" Film Festival starts tomorrow. As usual, the festival will be held at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood and will also be available online via Eventive.com On opening day (February 23), the festival will feature a tribute to Roberto Rossellini with a screening of “Stromboli,” followed by an homage to Isabella Rossellini with “Death Becomes Her.” In addition, there will be two exclusive U.S. premieres: At 5:30 PM “Darkness” (25 minutes), directed by Giuliano Oppes, with an introduction by Franco Nero, followed by “The American Backyard” (107 minutes), directed by Pupi Avati, introduced by Antonio Avati. After Avati’s movie the Opening Ceremony will start. This event presents a celebration of Italian cinematic and cultural excellence, perfectly timed on the eve of the 97th Academy Awards. Filming Italy Los Angeles 2025 Kicks Off with a Celebratory Opening Night In collaboration with the Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles, the Italian Cultural Institute, and Italian Trade Agency - Los Angeles Office the 2025 edition of “Filming Italy Los Angeles” officially opened yesterday with a night celebrating Italian cinema and its connections to the global industry. Renowned director and actor Michele Placido was honored with the Filming Italy Achievement Award, presented by Fabrizio Bentivoglio. Among the highly anticipated guests, Gabriele Muccino received the Filming Italy Los Angeles Best Director Award for his latest film “Fino alla fine”, presented by Alec Baldwin. Director Marco Perego and Oscar nominee Zoe Saldana, presented their short film “Dovecote”, further underscoring the festival’s role as a platform for artistic collaboration and storytelling.
