Tuesday, 26 November 2024 - Geneva - IUFoST Contributes to the deliberations of the Codex Alimentarius Commission at its hashtag #47th Session (CAC47) and Emphasizes the importance of science-based decision making: The International Union of Food Science and Technology (IUFoST) is participating to the hashtag #47th session of the Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC47), and is represented by Prof. Samuel Godefroy, President (2024-26) and co-chair of the IUFoST Codex Committee. IUFoST Contributed to the deliberations with a statement made in favour of the robustness of science-based standard-setting for food additives. Prof. Godefroy commanded the progress made by the Codex Committee on Food Additives (CCFA) in recommending the safe conditions of use of numerous food additives needed and required by food producers and highlighted the critical role of the Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) as THE reference source of scientific advice that Codex should rely upon for food additives work. IUFoST is also contributing to CAC47 through a collaborative work that its expert team supported, to enable the introduction of a new proposal for new work on Camel Milk, under the leadership of the United Arab Emirates. IUFoST contributes to Codex activities and processes enabled through its disciplinary group the Global Food Regulatory Science Society (GFoRSS).
