In December, twelve Ivy Tech Fort Wayne students received certificates from the Google STAR (Skilled Trades and Readiness) program. They were the first cohort in Indiana to graduate from the program, which is a collaboration between Google and Ivy Tech to skill-up more entry level employees in the trades. The bootcamp-style, paid training near Google’s data centers allowed participants to network and get involved with trade partners. With the help of the program, each student is now working with one of the sponsor companies either at the Google Data Center site in Fort Wayne or on local community projects. Quantrez Scott, a student in the program reflected on his experience: “I knew I was stepping into a world of opportunity and challenges. What I didn’t fully anticipate was the immense pride I would feel along the way.” Learn more about the program by visiting the link below.
