John, a 58-year-old resident at Hillview Court, a permanent supportive housing community in Milpitas recently celebrated a significant milestone—his first Christmas in his own apartment. After decades of homelessness, John’s journey to stability and independence was made possible through Jamboree’s partnership with the Office of Supportive Housing (County of Santa Clara) and Abode Services. This collaboration provided the stable housing, support, and resources he needed to turn his life around. Homeless since age 15, John faced incredible challenges, from living in his car with his pit bull, Spike, to overcoming a stroke that became the turning point in his life. Now, John is focused on building his independence, learning how to budget for his needs and save money—new skills that he's committed to mastering. He hopes to serve as a positive role model for others experiencing homelessness and dreams of mentoring young people to help them avoid a life on the streets. "I really want to be a mentor—to kids, men, and women who need someone like me to talk with," he shared. "Someone did that for me. I want people to know—you don’t have to let your past define you. You can always start new." Read more here: https://hubs.la/Q030SQ860

We celebrated the Grand Opening of Estrella Springs in Santa Ana, a transformative community providing 89 fully furnished studio apartments for individuals and veterans experiencing homelessness, as well as those living with mental health diagnoses. Previously an underused Budget Inn, Estrella Springs includes the renovation of two three-story buildings and the addition of a 4,347-square-foot community center with essential service and amenity spaces. Franz Washington, a Marine Corps veteran and resident at Estrella Springs, faced years of homelessness before finding stability, safety, and community support. With a steady job and VA benefits, Franz is rebuilding his life. “Living here has brought me peace. It’s not just housing—it’s a community,” he shared. This wouldn’t have been possible without our amazing partners: City of Santa Ana, Chase, Red Stone Equity Partners LLC, California Department of Housing & Community Development, CalOptima, Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, Orange County Housing Finance Trust, and The Home Depot Foundation. Estrella Springs isn’t just about housing—it’s about a second chance, a community that cares, and a brighter future.🏠 Watch more here: https://hubs.la/Q030KjjF0
