  • A PCB goes through a long and elaborate manufacturing process, so it’s critical that its functionality be tested. There are several ways to test the PCB board for functionality and connectivity: ⚡️In-Circuit Testing (ICT)- most practical for mass production, it tests the circuitry. ICT provides immediate detection of assembly faults by alerting to the affected node in the electronic manufacturing process. ⚡️Flying Probe Testing- best for small scale testing, this type of testing does not require a custom fixture. The Flying Probe method consists of movable probes that access the test points in various directions. The boards are aligned and clamped in place through software control. ⚡️Functional Testing- in this method of test, the PCB undergoes testing that simulates the electrical environment that the PCB will be subjected to during its application. This verifies the functionality of the board and is considered a verification of quality during the electronics manufacturing process. The test set up inputs a signal pattern to the PCB and grades the overall performance with a Pass or Fail. If your current Contract Manufacturer doesn’t employ a robust and efficient Testing program to support your needs, Janco Electronics Inc. can help! We’ll review your documentation package and testing requirements and provide you with a competitive quote. Our goal is to deliver on your specifications and exceed your expectations every time! 👀 Watch this split screen view of a PCB going through the Flying Probe test 👀

  • Wave soldering is another automated process used in electronics manufacturing to attach through-hole components to a printed circuit board. During wave soldering, the entire lower part of the PCB is immersed in liquid solder. The PCB gets passed over a wave of molten solder which wets the exposed metal pads and solders the components in place. This process is ideal for high-production larger PCBs with through-hole components, not densely populated PCBs with smaller components. The wave soldering process is broken down into the following steps- ⚡ Flux Application: a nozzle sprays flux to the lower part of the PCB, removing any debris and oxides, preparing the board and the components for soldering. ⚡ Preheating: the board travels through the heating element, activating the flux and removing moisture. It also prepares the board for proper solder adhesion. ⚡ Wave Soldering: the board goes through a wave of molten solder, creating solid and reliable joints. ⚡ Cooling: the final stage of the process, coolers located near the exit of the Wave Solder machine cool down the PCB. ⚡ Removal: the operator, wearing heat-protective gloves, removes the board and performs a visual inspection of the PCB, looking to make sure no rogue solder bridges formed. 📹 Watch the video below and picture your car moving through the automated car wash. #wavesolder #automatedmanufacturing #pcbassembly #pcb #electronicsmanufacturing #solder #flux

  • If you've worked in the #electronics industry, you've probably heard about Gerber files. Credited with revolutionizing various industries, Heinz Joseph Gerber dedicated his life to improving manufacturing efficiency by replacing tedious, repetitious tasks with automated equipment. You'd be hard-pressed to find a manufacturing industry that hasn't been positively impacted by Gerber's lifelong dedication to innovation. Read on to learn about the man behind the files. #gerber #pcb #pcbassembly #manufacturing #automation #innovation

  • Selective soldering is an automated process that applies solder only to specific joints on the PCB. The selective solder machine is pre-programmed to follow a pattern based on the board. Localized heating preheats only the component areas that require soldering. A solder nozzle jet dispenses a small amount of solder onto the joints. A vision system identifies the parts and joints involved and the machine moves in multiple directions, following the pre-programmed pattern allowing the nozzle to hit the specified joints. Selective soldering allows for soldering finer components and densely populated boards. In the video below, prior to inserting the board into the machine, you will see our operator apply temporary solder mask to the open vias (through-holes) and certain components, preventing those areas from receiving unwanted solder. The temporary mask is removed from the board once the selective solder operation is completed. #selectivesolder #pcb #pcbassembly #electronicsassembly #soldertechniques

  • Hand soldering is a manual assembly process which allows the manufacturer to handle complex assemblies. Through-hole components are known for their ability to withstand environmental and mechanical stress. Through-hole soldering is achieved by inserting the leads of the component into drilled holes in the PCB. The operator then solders the leads onto the pads on the other side of the board, creating a permanent connection between the component and board. Through-hole assembly works well for large components that require a strong bond and are subjected to high power and voltage during application. At Janco Electronics Inc. our team of hand solderers have decades of experience between them, so you can rest assured your PCB is built with the utmost care and precision. #PCB #HA #throughhole #handsolder #electronicsassembly #contractmanufacturing

  • While it’s important for an Electronics Manufacturer to have Surface Mount Technology to manage higher volume production, Hand Assembly is a better option for lower quantity assemblies that use components with unique shape, size, and heat sensitivity. If you have an assembly that requires a housing unit, then you’ll need a manufacturing partner that specializes in Box Build Assembly. 🛠️Box Build Assembly is the process of assembling multiple components into a finished product or system. It covers a wider scope than PCB assembly, incorporating the casing or enclosure, the PCB, cabling, and additional components like fans, switches, and other mechanical parts. 🛠️Also referred to as System Integrations, Box Build Assemblies benefit key sectors such as medical devices, automotive electronics, and aerospace. 🛠️Box Build Assembly is key to innovation and enables companies to stay competitive by: ⚡️reducing the lead time required to bring their product to market ⚡️integrating the latest technological advancements while ensuring products meet stringent industry standards ⚡️a holistic approach to manufacturing, it ensures a fully functional product is ready to perform in its real-world application once delivered Visit us at https://lnkd.in/esVCJcV9 to learn about us, the services we specialize in, and why we should be your next trusted electronics manufacturing partner. #electronicsmanufacturing #handassembly #ha #boxbuild #systemintegration #pcb #pcbassembly
