Virginia joins seven other states including Alabama, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Wisconsin and Washington, "in launching an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Task Force to support policymakers and government agencies in implementing the technology," Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced. Pieces Technologies' generative AI tool provides "summaries of patients' conditions and treatments for hospital staff." An investigation by Mr. Paxton's office revealed that Pieces made misleading claims about the accuracy of its healthcare AI products, potentially endangering the public interest." "According to the news release, Pieces created various metrics to promote its AI tools as "highly accurate," advertising an error rate or "severe hallucination rate" of "<1 per 100,000" in its marketing efforts. Mr. Paxton's investigation concluded that these metrics were likely inaccurate and may have misled hospitals regarding the true accuracy and safety of the company's products." At Jeffcom 911,...the dispatch communications center receives an average of 2,000 calls per day. "In #Connecticut, the executive branches’ AI inventory is public record, and includes details like which AI tools each agency uses, what it decides, what vendors are involved, and if it’s been assessed. In #Massachusetts, $25 million has been earmarked for IT capital AI projects within the executive branch. In #Pennsylvania, legislators passed an act to study how AI might be used to improve how the #911 and #988 systems can assist people experiencing a #mentalhealth crisis."
