Aish At the time, Yasmeen was co-president of the Movement to Address Antisemitism, which advocated for mandatory antisemitism education for all Tulane students. Post-Oct. 7, her work ramped up, as witnesses reported that pro-Palestinian protestors assaulted Jewish students, and one Jewish student revealed that his nose was broken. As for Yasmeen, a woman yelled at her, “[Expletive] you, Jew!” https://lnkd.in/ggrgmhUG

JTA “When I stepped on that stone and I cleaned it, and I realized that’s my ancestor, I felt something stronger, different,” said Wrzosinski. “Kind of a sense of belonging to this weird place — just an orphaned stone in a neglected forest, and it’s somehow mine. I needed to take a few deep breaths and stop for a moment.” Now, Wrzosinski has found seven direct relatives to visit in the cemetery. He believes that his great-grandfather lies in one of the mass graves, although he cannot know for certain. Through his database and the efforts of the student archaeologists, he is gratified to watch other visitors experience the same moment of connection that he did. https://lnkd.in/gznUhaVh

Don’t miss this talk by counterterrorism and intelligence expert Dr. Matthew Levitt, who looks at the future of the north in Israel with Hezbollah. Levitt is author of Hezbollah: The Global Footprint of Lebanon’s Party of God. His book was the first thorough examination of Hezbollah's covert activities beyond Lebanon's borders, including its financial and logistical support networks and its criminal and terrorist operations worldwide. Levitt will show convincingly how Hezbollah's willingness to use violence at home and abroad, its global reach, and its proxy-patron relationship with the Iranian regime all continue to be of serious concern. "Since October 7, I have felt a stronger calling to my Judaism, and I wanted to make sure I attended. At the conference, singer-songwriter and founder of the Heroes Project Gilad Segev spoke, and he said, “The Jewish story is a love story—our love for each other.” That is how I have always felt about Judaism. I have always loved being Jewish and it has always been my identity, so it was important for me to be at the Conference to learn even more about the role that women play in philanthropy." https://lnkd.in/gk9Pxkkv

Today, Jewish Federations mourn and pray for the families of Itzik Elgarat, Tsahi Idan, Shlomo Mantzur, and Ohad Yahalomi, all taken hostage from their safe rooms and homes in a horrifying manner by Hamas terrorists on October 7. Along with all of Israel, we are waiting for the government to positively identify their remains. The last several weeks have been tragic in many ways, yet we remain amazed and proud of the resilience of the Israeli people as they stand strong during these times of grief. Jewish Federations stand in solidarity and pray with them during these times of mourning. Read the full statement here: https://lnkd.in/ea8buP4U
