I hope your boss is telling you these things: 1.) Keep going, part of this thing is perseverance. 2.) We're all busy but I see your hard work and really appreciate it. 3.) That thing which is bothering you - it's ok to share that with me but maybe you recognize it because you were meant to solve it. 4.) Work hard, put in the hours, go above and beyond, try again - all of those lead to promotions. 5.) You thought I didn't see how you helped a team-member, but I did, and others did. 6.) For _____ mistake, I'm sorry, I'm sure I'll make some more mistakes but I apologize for that one. 7.) If you try hard with quality, and a strategy fails - I got you. Getting Ghosted.. On Your Job Search One of the hard things about the job search is getting GHOSTED. I totally get it. I've been there.   You can't really avoid it, but there's a couple things that you can do to help. In your first conversation with someone, just say "Hey, I'm just trying to avoid having everyone going silent and me not knowing what's going on. I'd rather have bad news than no news or to be ghosted. So, if there's any way we could just agree that either one of us will make sure to go back to each other, that would be great. Not needing to have updates every day or anything crazy like that." You can rehearse that and make it better, but some kind of setting of expectations up front is good.   The second tip is building a network with the people that you are interviewing with outside of just the recruiter. (in the sales world we call that not being "single-threaded") You want to make sure you're following up with the hiring manager and with the other people that interviewed you during a panel interview situation, because all of them are points of follow up and contact that you can have instead of just having one who might ghost you.   Don't suffer learning everything the hard way! Building a Recruiter Network    I was laid off in the 2020 pandemic, May 28th, 2020.  It was the worst possible time to be let go. I was in the sales world, which was particularly hard because people certainly weren't hiring salespeople at that time. One of the things I thought I would do is build a recruiter network.      I only had two or three recruiters that I knew and they had nothing available for me. I said to myself, "How can I build a recruiter network?"  So I just used LinkedIn, and I would search for the word "Sales" and then the word "Recruiter". In your case, your industry might be different than that.      It would be, "Your field" (nursing, construction etc) and then the word "Recruiter". Then I reached out to several recruiters, connected to them, messaged, and emailed them.  I'd share my resume and I'd offer a chat. Also, I'd see if they had anything available in my category.
