In 1972, Dr. Mary Ella Robertson made history by becoming the first woman and the first Black person appointed to our Board of Directors. Her appointment was a significant milestone not only for John Hancock, but also for the broader Boston business community, as she was the first Black person to serve on the board of directors for any major company in the city. #BlackHistoryMonth

A new book from researchers at the MIT AgeLab, “Longevity Hubs: Regional Innovation for Global Aging,” convenes experts, researchers and contributors as they explore how specific regions will distinguish themselves as “longevity hubs” and be better prepared to weather some of the challenges posed by aging populations. The book, edited by Dr. Joe Coughlin and Luke Yoquinto, opens with a focus on Greater Boston as a longevity hub, John Hancock’s home for more than 160 years.
