  • In 1972, Dr. Mary Ella Robertson made history by becoming the first woman and the first Black person appointed to our Board of Directors. Her appointment was a significant milestone not only for John Hancock, but also for the broader Boston business community, as she was the first Black person to serve on the board of directors for any major company in the city. #BlackHistoryMonth

  • Wishing everyone a Happy Lunar New Year! This year, we are welcoming in the Year of the Snake, specifically the Wood Snake, which symbolizes wisdom, transformation, and agility. A snake has the ability to shed its skin, teaching us to embrace the new.

    • Happy Lunar New Year! Year of the Snake.
  • Today is Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, a day to honor the life and legacy of the civil rights leader. Dr. King was a social activist and minister who fought for equal rights for Black Americans using peaceful protest. His vision of a society where everyone is treated equally continues to inspire us today.

A new book from researchers at the MIT AgeLab, “Longevity Hubs: Regional Innovation for Global Aging,” convenes experts, researchers and contributors as they explore how specific regions will distinguish themselves as “longevity hubs” and be better prepared to weather some of the challenges posed by aging populations. The book, edited by Dr. Joe Coughlin and Luke Yoquinto, opens with a focus on Greater Boston as a longevity hub, John Hancock’s home for more than 160 years. Our President and CEO, Brooks Tingle, contributed to the book, sharing how the financial services industry can help people live longer, healthier, better lives.
