🌎 The Future of Climate Action: ACT | The Alliance for Climate Transition President Joe Curtatone Weighs In 🌎 In a recent article by Adam Goldstein in the New Bedford Light, Joe Curtatone emphasizes both the challenges and opportunities ahead for climate work under a new president. “It’d be difficult to go back on a lot of the IRA, but that doesn’t mean [Trump] won’t try. Now is the time to double down on our vigilance, to be vocal, active, and informed.” Curtatone also noted that while grant funds are likely safe due to legal protections, potential changes to tax credits for solar and offshore wind could impact investments, jobs, and communities across the country. Despite these concerns, local clean energy leaders remain confident in the IRA's durability, citing bipartisan support and legal safeguards. 🚛 Driving Clean Transportation Forward: Insights from ACT President Joe Curtatone at AEG’s Clean Transportation Summit 🔋 Last week, ACT President Joe Curtatone joined the Advanced Energy Group's Clean Transportation Summit to address one of the Northeast's most pressing challenges: reducing greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector. 🔴 Transportation remains the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the Northeast, with medium- and heavy-duty vehicles disproportionately impacting Environmental Justice communities. These emissions exacerbate public health crises, including asthma and respiratory diseases, making clean transportation solutions a matter of health equity and climate action. 🔴 ⭐Joe highlighted the critical role of charging infrastructure and grid upgrades to support the electrification of large fleets. ⭐He praised recent proactive measures, such as the New York Public Service Commission’s directive for utilities to evaluate future energy loads and plan for grid enhancements.
