🎩 𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿 🚀John Linford’s path to entrepreneurship has been anything but ordinary. His first job? Going door-to-door selling pest control—a brutal start that taught him grit. From there, he immersed himself in the 0-to-1 space, spending time at a VC studio building ventures, running a startup accelerator, working as a data analyst at an e-commerce startup, and eventually stepping into leadership roles as Chief of Staff and Head of Business Development at a software company. But John’s entrepreneurial journey started earlier than that—with a bit of 𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘪𝘤 🪄 His first business was performing as a professional magician! 🐇While he flirted with taking it full-time, it’s been a passion-fueled side hustle for the last eight years. Now, with a deep understanding of how to attract customers and pitch himself, John knows what it takes to build something meaningful. For John, the draw of entrepreneurship is about owning his time and story—creating something 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘩𝘪𝘮𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧. It hasn’t been without challenges. Managing the emotional highs and lows has been tough, but he’s gained invaluable lessons along the way. 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲? ✨ “𝘛𝘢𝘭𝘬. 𝘛𝘰. 𝘊𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘳𝘴. 𝘈𝘭𝘭. 𝘛𝘩𝘦. And his advice to his younger self? “Chill out, lol. In case you missed it, last week we dropped 𝐋𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝’𝐬 𝐓𝐨𝐩 50 𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 2024! Coaching changes lives. It’s a phenomenon that we’ve witnessed over and over with our 100,000+ Leland users, and it’s a recurring theme across the greatest figures in history. Alexander had Aristotle, Oprah had Maya Angelou, Yves St. Laurent had Christian Dior, Bill Gates had Warren Buffet, and Barack Obama had Michelle Robinson, to name just a few. Historically, however, coaching has been restricted to those who had means or connections. With Leland, that is no longer the case. Now, anyone can access the expertise they need to level up in their careers, break into a competitive industry, get into a top school, ace a test, learn new skills, and challenge themselves. Exciting news! 🎉 Join us in giving a warm welcome to the newest members of the Leland squad! 👋 Rob started his journey with Leland as a Sales Intern. Now, after graduating from Boston College, he is back as an Account Executive, ready to drive growth and help customers get matched to the right coaches and services. Kristen landed a full-time consulting role at Bain & Company but decided to join our Growth + Ops team instead. She will be working on the supply side of Leland, helping recruit, onboard, train, and activate our world-class coaches. Spencer joins us as our Head of Revenue! Spencer spent seven years at Bain and two years at Harvard Business School earning his MBA. He’ll be focused on growing our partnership opportunities and our consumer categories. Craig is our Head of Business Operations. Craig previously led BizOps at Studio. He will leading several strategic initiatives here, leveraging his previous startup operating experience. He also holds a JD/MS from Stanford University. Ellie is joining us after some time as a Senior Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company. She is a part of our Growth and Operations team, helping us develop impactful courses and content to empower our community.
