One of their most powerful tools, the total station, is crucial to achieving this precision. A total station is an electronic instrument that combines a theodolite and an electronic distance meter (EDM). Its compact tool allows surveyors to measure angles and distances simultaneously, with accuracy down to millimeters. The station also includes data processing software, which helps surveyors store, calculate, and transfer their findings quickly and accurately. Total stations are indispensable in land surveying.
