In the face of abuse and fear, workers in low-paying jobs are demanding respect and dignity. We are their lawyers.

About us

Justice at Work’s mission is to support workers in low-wage jobs in exercising their power. We strengthen organizing by providing labor-and-employment legal services, training, and strategic guidance to workers’ organizations. Justice At Work envisions all people exercising their power at work to ensure fair pay, safety, and dignity. To accomplish our vision, we: a) build capacity through legal training/education and technical assistance; b) provide direct legal services as well as access to legal resources and advocacy; and c) spearhead and/or support workplace-related law reform efforts to improve working conditions.

  • This year, as Giving Tuesday floods us with appeals of charity, choose solidarity. Join Manuel and workers in low-paying jobs who will be on the front lines resisting Trump 2.0. Like countless others in construction, Manuel was not paid for two weeks of drywall work–money he needed to make ends meet. When he complained to his boss, he was always told “next week.” Manuel took matters into his own hands. He connected with the MassCOSH Immigrant Worker Center, which aims to educate and organize workers, and then he and his coworkers sued his boss with Justice at Work’s representation. Now, thanks to your support, and just in time for the holidays, Manuel is finally getting paid the wages he earned at $25 per hour. Manuel's message to other workers: "Fight for your money. It's money you've worked for, earned by the sweat of your brow. It is theft." Join us in solidarity with Manuel and thousands of workers in dangerous, low-paying jobs, as they continue to demand justice in 2025 and beyond.

  • Despite the future uncertainty in Washington, DC, our team hasn’t stopped. Just yesterday, we held the third session of our first-ever Haitian Creole Practice Your Power course in Brockton. Participants are learning about their workplace rights and practicing how to organize to protect themselves and demand justice on the job. Join us tomorrow for Dance for Justice XIII. • For us, the election last week was a gut punch. A reminder that many of us are not welcome in the United States, and politicians scapegoat our communities.  We are uplifted by the courage and hopefulness of workers in low-paying jobs, who have spent their lives moving forward despite hostile governments, and we’re glad you’re with us in ensuring that, despite the attacks of Trump 2.0, the next four years will include on-going workplace demands and victories across this region. We hope you can join us this Saturday as we process our anger and anxiety in community, with the aid of food, music and movement, reminding ourselves of our collective resilience. https://lnkd.in/eGgiyBzz P.S. Thanks to the solidarity of Razalas Art, we will be doing a silent auction of handmade lanterns (valued at $150 each). The process is already live and will end Saturday night–make your bid here: https://lnkd.in/evN7W5Ct Para nosotros, las elecciones de la semana pasada fueron un puñetazo en el estómago.

  • Our team was energized this weekend by the first ever 5K for Justice, a fabulous event organized by our friends and partners at the Brazilian Worker Center. Kudos to the leadership of BWC Executive Director Lenita Reason, BWC member Alexandre Simões who envisioned and led the organizing of the event, and the entire team who pulled off an impressive community-building event that we hope to see again in the future. We hope to see you there next year!
