"At the core I am a developing human," says Pamela Maxson, PhD, MCC, "and one who is made up of everything that's happened to me, of all the people who I've come across, and also the things I've been willing to let go of. So that culmination of those experiences. And also recognizing that I don't need to carry it all with me. I get to choose the parts of me that I want to keep and then diminish the things I don't want to keep." K Street Coaching®'s Gideon Culman, MCC contributes to the elevation of the coaching profession through insightful and caring conversations that introduce us to top practitioners in the coaching field. #mastercoachcollection

"The most important thing for me in coaching is that, when I take my last breath, I have worked with enough people on the planet that they are actually able to have and make peace with themselves," says Tracey Burns, MCC. "Because that is my deepest belief: When we make peace with ourselves, we're more likely to cause peace on the planet. Who’s up for Craig Stanton - JD, MA, MCC’s challenge? Game on!
Experienced executive with deep understanding of technical and emotional requirements needed to accomplish business-related outcomes. Dedicated to supporting evidence-based leadership behaviors that work.
“Translation as the Essential Leadership Skill” ———————— Is your message understood by others? Especially in moments of high-stress, anxiety, or crisis? As an MCC coach and an executive of 20+ years, I submit to you that the single most important leadership skill you can master is the art of translation. I define “the art of translation” as: the unique ability to intentionally employ language that is at once supportive, disarming, and open in ways that most other human beings can both understand and easily receive. Go ahead, consider other much-discussed leadership competencies, such as: - empathy - good judgment - intelligence - sense of self - technical acumen - mental agility I submit to you that “translation” is at the heart of all of these. I also submit that the single most important *leadership skill* one can master involves the ability to translate your own deeply personal knowledge and understanding into terms and language that other human beings can recognize, accept, and understand easily. Can you do “both/and” thinking in a way that everyone genuinely accepts and understands what you have to offer? Do you bridge the divide? Complexity is difficult. The world pushes us into specificity. We tend to forget the power of communication that *everyone* can truly receive and understand. ————————- Does this sound simple, leader? Try it!!!! Feel free to let me know how it goes.
