Updates

  • October marks National Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Month—a time for us to come together as a community to reflect, honor, and take action. At KAFSC, we believe that every person deserves to feel safe, respected, and heard, regardless of their background or circumstances. This month, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting survivors of domestic violence, advocating for stronger protections, and raising awareness of the often hidden struggles many endure. Domestic violence is not limited by race, age, gender, or socio-economic status—it impacts all communities, including the Korean American and Asian immigrant communities we serve. At KAFSC, we know that cultural and language barriers can make it especially difficult for survivors to seek help. That’s why we provide culturally and linguistically appropriate services, create safe spaces for survivors to heal, and work tirelessly to break the silence surrounding this issue. We invite you to join us for our 27th Annual Silent March on **Friday, October 11 at 4 PM** in front of the NYPD 109th Precinct (37-05 Union Street, Flushing, NY 11354). After the march, we will gather for speeches at Queens Library (41-17 Main Street, Flushing, NY 11354). Together, we will stand in solidarity with survivors, amplify their voices, and demand change. Let’s take this moment to make a statement and show that we will not tolerate violence in our homes or communities. Join us as we march for a future where everyone can live free from fear. Please contact community@kafsc.org to RSVP or if you have any questions.
