Kahurangi (treasure, precious, or light blue like our Founders' eyes) + tō kaha (your strength) = a whole vibe of awesomeness. ✨ Kahu, our tino hoa AI (a.k.a. ChatGPT), came up with this epic new tagline. We love how it captures the heart of what kahu.code stands for: - Uplifting our reo rangatira, - Empowering people through innovation, and; - Supporting seamless kōrero between humanity and technology. You never know who you'll meet! 😮 Last Friday, I was lucky to connect with Michael Puhara in Tāmaki Makaurau at the final 2024 Te Hāpori Matihiko meetup. Michael is a self-taught developer and co-founder of kahu.code, a Māori-owned, father-daughter-run software company that integrates AI with te ao Māori. Michael's journey is truly inspiring. He and his daughter, Xaviere Murray-Puhara, have combined technical innovation with practical application to help revitalise te reo Māori in Aotearoa. Their work has garnered significant recognition, including winning the 2024 Matihiko Innovator Tipu Tohu Award 🥳👏🏻🥳 Meeting Michael and hearing his story was an honour. His insights are invaluable to me. I'm grateful for the resources and advice he shared that will help me advance my coding and web development skills. Thanks to New Zealand Trade and Enterprise for hosting the event and Te Hapori Matihiko and Lee Timutimu for welcoming me into your space and empowering Māori in digital and tech! 🙏🏼 🥳🙌🏻
