KZCF was one of 10 community foundations across Michigan selected to receive a $20,000 grant from the Consumers Energy Foundation as part of their efforts to advance diversity, equity and inclusion across the state. KZCF used the grant to support nine Kalamazoo leaders who identify as people of color and were first-time applicants of our Sustaining Leaders initiative. Our Community Impact team selected the leaders based on whether they were new to their leadership role or serving in a co-leadership model. The Sustaining Leaders initiative was created to provide rest, professional development, executive coaching and wellness grants to local nonprofit leaders who identify as people of color.
