👋 We’re excited to welcome talented students from seven different universities for summer internships! Check out these highlights from their first month. 🤝 Our interns are meeting peers throughout the city and learning more about Birmingham’s opportunities through FuelAL, a partnership among the Birmingham Business Alliance, Economic Development Partnership of Alabama (EDPA), and Innovate Alabama. ⚾️ Interns and members of the Kassouf Recruiting Team enjoyed a day at the ballpark cheering on the Birmingham Barons. 🤩 We engaged in some friendly competition through Get to Know You Bingo. Interns worked with Kassouf team members to fill up their bingo cards, with the first blackout winning prizes (and bragging rights). 🌎 Community service is ingrained in our culture at Kassouf; we support over 30 different charitable organizations annually. Our interns experienced this commitment through two service projects. They worked with United Community Center, a Community Food Bank of Central Alabama partner, to distribute fresh produce to those facing food insecurity. We had a blast hosting 20 bright students from 5 different universities for Forge, our Summer Leadership Program! The event kicked off with a welcome reception and dinner at Galley & Garden, an award-winning restaurant steps from our office. Students then engaged in meaningful networking and programming at our Birmingham Office. They learned more about our history, #employeeengagement initiatives, the classroom to workplace transition, and preparation for the CPA exam. After a lunch showcasing Birmingham's diverse food scene, Forge attendees embarked on a tour of Morris Avenue and 1st Avenue North. Our stops included: 📍 Lifelyles Gifts & Interiors - A unique gift shop and interior design studio 📍 Memory Lane - Curated sneakers and streetwear 📍 Total Skin & Beauty - Our friend and client, Total Skin, offers exceptional medical, surgical, aesthetic and cosmetic services. 📍 Alabama Peanut Company - We enjoyed the official state legume at this legendary spot. 📍 Cayo Coco - Students were transported to the Caribbean with fun cocktails and mocktails. Leader of Marketing, Communications, and Engagement Tara Arrington shared our #employeeengagement efforts during the CPAmerica, Inc. Marketing Roundtable in Orlando last week. Inspired by Harry Potter, the Kassouf House Cup Tournament increased engagement and connection with employees across teams and locations through friendly competition. Thank you to our entire Employee Engagement Committee (EEC) and our EEC Chair Bridget Adams O'Neal for leading the charge! Our Spring 2024 Intern Class has worked incredibly hard this semester. We are so proud of all they've learned and accomplished! Our largest class to date, this group represents five different colleges and universities. Interns are paired with buddies to help them through the process. A buddy is their go-to resource for questions. Most buddies completed internships at Kassouf, so they're uniquely suited to guide the interns. We celebrated our interns and buddies with dinner and games at Paramount Birmingham. Thank you for your diligence this Opportunity Season!
