  • You put in the time and effort to craft safe, strategic engineering designs. Now it’s time to get them built. Unfortunately, conditions in the field can change, making it hard for construction crews to follow designs that no longer reflect the real state of the pole. While we can’t fix all the variables, clear communication and directives help crews prep the bill of the materials and uphold the integrity of the design even when things change.  To make this easier, our engineering team started using Katapult Pro Map Prints to automatically populate and generate construction packages. Translating engineering into actionable info has helped our team improve communication with construction teams to make sure what’s designed is what gets built. By following up with post-construction inspections, design teams can give and receive feedback from construction crews, creating a feedback loop that helps all teams grow and ensures safety and reliability. Use your safe engineering to support safe construction, delivering clear construction directives that help maintain networks and improve the grid. • Unless you’re willing to headhunt for the most experienced designers, expanding your team usually means training new staff in the details of overhead utilities, but that’s easier said than done. Teaching team members the ins and outs of design can be a huge time investment. Distribution is deceptively complex, and smart grids, EVs, and increasing attachments only make it more complicated. Usually, the best teachers are your best designers, which limits your fastest staff as they teach concepts, check work, and fix errors. But getting your new staff up to speed doesn’t have to slow you down. Our Field and Office Bootcamps model the aggressive growth goals we set for our own staff (most of whom started with zero knowledge about engineering design) to get your newest designers up and running. Our experts train your staff with an intensive, in-person bootcamp that takes them through annotation, extraction, and design. Not only do they learn to make the basics and best decisions—they learn the best practices and processes to add immense value. We want to help you succeed— taking on new work, reaching new heights, and growing your staff. Reach out to our team today at training@katapultengineering.com to learn more about our Bootcamps!
