About us

With static dashboards, companies know what is happening in the business. "Revenue is down 3% from last week." But rarely, if ever, is there a clear path to a decision or an action. This is the biggest gap in business intelligence that has fundamentally crippled companies from achieving proactive analytics capabilities. We believe proactive analytics should be easier. At Kater, we're committed to building a decision tree platform that captures your company's genius to define those paths to action. Through these ever-growing decision trees and a unified data model, you can now define what questions to ask, which hypotheses to verify, how to interpret the data, and finally know how to move forward after learning that revenue is down 3%.

Kater.ai (YC W24) lets companies answer data questions using plain English. Executives can now get data answers in seconds rather than waiting days for the data team. Yvonne Chou and Robin Seitz are changing the way data is accessed at companies. Kater drives business outcomes by introducing a self-learning AI agent who organizes, understands, and remembers all the nuances of a company's data estate. Data is largely a scarce resource for most companies. Stakeholders typically rely on Slack and Jira to access the data team for data-related questions, waiting days or weeks to hear a response. With Kater, those questions can be answered in seconds. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/gp9T9a9y.

AI Governance (i.e. tech debt), Data Quality/gov with CDW, startup advisor, doing cool stuff for real people (Former Cofounder & Strategic Advisor @ Great Expectations Labs, not actively involved in operations anymore)

Snowflake Summit was awesome for me mostly for the really cool people I met up with. Catching up on all the innovation happening at all these startups is so invigorating. Some really smart folks doing cool stuff. I’m going to highlight a few of them over the next week before getting back to sharing demos on data and ai governance. One startup I’m keeping an eye on is Kater.ai. They’re building a new way to interact with knowledge hidden in your data systems. (Hint: it’s not tabular organization of structured data…. But has something to do with floating point numbers…. 🤣). I was so pumped to finally meet cofounder and CEO of Kater, Yvonne Chou! She is impressive as a person, as a developer, as a product leader, and as a CEO. My spidy sense is going off about her leading Kater to success! Over a delicious sushi dinner 😋, we talked about LLMs (cc Alex Sherstinsky); knowledge graphs and semantic meaning organization (cc Juan Sequeda and Joe Reis 🤓 ); gtm (cc everyone 😏and Dave Boyce and Randall Lloyd); differences in open source and pure saas business models (cc Alexander Dean); catalogs and metada; data quality (Abe Gong ); analytics stacks (cc Benn Stancil); and user personas of data products in the market. We talked about gaps in current data market (cc Yali Sassoon) and Yvonne is addressing a big one! It was such a 🔥 conversation. I learned a lot from Yvonne Chou and hopefully shared some interesting insights I have. Stay tuned. They’re onto something over at Kater.ai (YC W24)! #startups #llms #datatools #knowledgesharing

Most companies are not prepared to use AI for analytics. Why? Tribal knowledge. There's no organic way to store and retrieve tribal knowledge about data. Plus, companies and their data are ever-changing, so how do we ensure the tribal knowledge is up to date? This is challenge #1 of 94827734 we're tackling here at Kater.ai (YC W24). We are minimizing our user's required behavior change by allowing documentation to naturally emerge from answering data questions. We understand how painful documentation is. So how can we help? With Kater, the small semantic complexities of your data are now readable and version controlled. Let me know what you think.
