Discover the latest update on the developing research conducted by collaborating departments at Kent State University, including the Kent State Center for Public Policy and Health, the Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine (KSUCPM), and the Kent State Department of Biological Sciences. “Our understanding of genetics may enhance our ability to accurately detect and predict suicide risk. This study will involve computational analyses of patient transcriptomes—genetic material—to identify RNA and gene editing biomarkers associated with suicidal risk. Participants will include individuals who have recently experienced suicidal ideation, along with age- and sex-matched healthy controls. The primary objective is to identify specific blood-based biomarkers linked to suicide attempts and suicidal ideation, thereby improving risk prediction for future attempts and facilitating the development of innovative therapeutic treatments.” (American Foundation for Suicide Prevention) Learn more about the ongoing study, "RNA Editing Patterns as Blood Biomarkers for Predicting Suicide Risk", at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention below. #research #science #biology #kentstate #development https://lnkd.in/gSujm795
