  • KRHR Monthly Q&A: Fostering Open Feedback In this month's "Questions to Consider with KRHR" we explore ways in which employers can help employees feel more comfortable providing feedback about their managers. Client: "My employees tell me they want to give feedback regarding their managers but are worried it may cause tension or even retaliation. How can I help our employees feel more comfortable providing feedback about their managers?" KRHR: "Unfortunately, a lot of employees feel uneasy about giving feedback on their managers, worrying it may cause more harm than good. An efficient way to gain employee feedback without the uneasy feelings is to offer employee surveys quarterly or annually, depending on your needs. To use the surveys effectively, here are a few suggestions: • Ensure surveys are completely anonymous to encourage honest responses. • Allow for both multiple-choice and open-ended questions to accommodate different comfort levels. Ask questions that allow employees to give as much or as little information as they feel comfortable. Some employees may feel like writing paragraphs. Others may be inclined to provide a rating and nothing else. • Give employees time during the workday to complete the survey. • Hold managers accountable to changes they’ve committed to making. • Work towards creating a culture where giving and receiving candid feedback is the norm. Managers can contribute to this culture by owning up to their mistakes, acknowledging where they have room to grow, and accepting critical input graciously." For further insights on how to develop useful employee surveys for your organization and foster a culture of open communication, connect with our Trusted Advisors. Additionally, we provide leadership development and coaching, which may be a good option for ensuring survey results are put into action. #KerberRose #QuestionswithKR #HR

  • Our Trusted Advisors want to remind business owners to begin preparing now for the upcoming filing season. Here are three questions we want you to consider asking yourself before year-end: 1. Has my BOI report been filed? The Corporate Transparency Act requires many businesses to file a Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) report with FinCEN. This new requirement began January 1, 2024, and existing businesses have until January 1, 2025, to file. Ensure you've identified your beneficial owners, gathered necessary information, and submitted your report if required. 2. What are my cash flow projections for next year? Develop a detailed cash flow forecast for the upcoming year. Consider factors like regular expenses (payroll, rent, utilities), seasonal influxes of income or expenses, any planned expansions, or debt repayments. These projections can help you make informed decisions for 2025. 3. Did I buy or sell any assets I didn't tell my accountant about? The buying or selling of assets such as vehicles, equipment and real estate is usually a taxable event that can have a significant impact on a business's year end taxable income. It can be beneficial to for both you and your accountant to know the impact of these types of transactions in advance of the tax filing season. 4. Am I maximizing my business tax deductions? Ensure you're tracking all potential deductions, such as business-related travel and meals, office supplies and equipment, training costs, and advertising spend. Keep detailed records and receipts to support these deductions in case of an audit. Don't wait until the last minute! Schedule a meeting with your advisor today to review these questions and feel well-prepared for the upcoming tax season. #KerberRose #TaxPrep #BusinessOwners #YearEndPlanning #TaxSeason #FinancialSuccess
