  • Proper grading and drainage around your property cannot be overstated. Take this construction defect case as an example. The newly constructed home experienced serious foundation movement evidenced by cracking walls, member separations, and binding doors. Our CD team performed laser scans and elevation analysis of the entire property. One key factor they discovered: the grading surrounding the home did not slope a minimum of 10% away from the structure. In fact it didn't even meet the less stringent 5% industry standard. This exacerbated issues with swelling soils throughout the property. #constructiondefect #attorneys #homeowners

The post below was written in 2023... That analysis of the #JFK assassination was based on publicly available data at that time. With any forensic investigation, new information presents the opportunity to update or change your findings. It looks like we are about to get more evidence on this historical tragedy. https://lnkd.in/gH8R4Ebf ************************************************* I'm proud to share the work our team has done to reconstruct the 1963 JFK assassination at Dealey Plaza. This project has attracted media attention from across the nation, such as this interview on Chicago’s WGN9 New findings on JKF assassination on 60th anniversary | WGN-TV (wgntv.com) last year. However, as impressive as it was to recreate a 60-year-old presidential assassination, the implications it has on modern investigations is revolutionary. We now have the ability to create 3D reconstructions of any scene using the vast amount of 2D digital evidence today (dashcams, bodycams, cell phones, surveillance, traffic, ring, etc.). With laser scanners, we can reveal the 3rd dimension (depth) of any photo/video and use it for scientific analysis. This is a game-changer for investigations and trials in both civil and criminal cases. You can see more examples of our work at: https://lnkd.in/gNukdCwM. As Michal Gula always says: “𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝟮𝗗 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻!” #knottlab #breakingnews #digitalmediaforensics

  • 💡 Did you know that expansive soils cause more damage to buildings and infrastructure in the US than tornadoes, floods, earthquakes, and hurricanes combined? Annual losses are estimated in the billions, including severe structural damage, cracked driveways, sidewalks, basement floors, and more. In Colorado, this hazard is particularly significant. Soils with layers of clays like bentonite and montmorillonite can expand up to 20% when exposed to water, exerting forces strong enough to break up any structure they encounter. #structuralengineering

  • Handrails, something you hardly give thought to, but are crucial for safety. This recent premises liability case highlights their tremendous importance. The case involved a serious fall that took place in a stairway which lacked handrails entirely, violating multiple building codes. By utilizing doorbell camera footage, we were able to reconstruct the scene and virtually install the necessary handrails at the proper height. This served to evaluate and answer important questions in the case. #attorneys #forensicvisualization

  • We have a great batch of anniversaries to celebrate this month 👏 4 years - Jason Evans Jason is a Project Manager leading our Digital Media Forensics team and assisting on Premises Liability cases. Outside of work, Jason and his family enjoy ranch life in southern Colorado and all the outdoors has to offer. 4 years - Nisha Lowe Nisha is an Administrative Assistant to our CEO and core member of the Business Operations team. She's a master sourdough starter, likely responsible for half the sourdough in Castle Rock, CO at this point. 2 years - Sarah Bowlin, PHR Sarah is our Talent Acquisition Director responsible for finding more awesome people to join our team. Outside of work, she's training for her next trail race or cheering one of her kids on in football, basketball, volleyball, and softball. 1 year - Angelica Bermea Angie is Legal Case Manager who masterfully handles documentation, organization, scheduling and a zillion other aspects of our legal cases. Angie is mom to a high-schooler and a 4th grader, so her hands are delightfully full with all sorts of activities! (Can you tell she's good at multi-tasking?) 1 year - Zach Miller Zach is Business Development Manager for our structural engineering departments in Arizona. Outside of work, Zach can be found on one of the many Phoenix golf courses and hanging out with his family. Congratulations, we're thankful for all of you! #knottlab
