McGraw Kokosing hosted three training courses for our team members in the Southwest Ohio region. These courses were for team members from all companies to further develop their knowledge and experience in Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP) and Confined Spaces. There were two Confined Space Competent Person Training, where about 50 people were trained in those two-day courses! Our safety team put together a hands-on simulation where our team members practiced different rescue techniques, basic equipment inspections, and management of hazards in confined spaces. #Kokosing #SafetyFirst

We had the privilege of working with C.D. Smith Construction on their Sheboygan Water Utility’s Raw Water Improvements Project! As a subcontractor, Kokosing’s Marine group removed and replaced over 100,000 cubic yards of material to install nearly 7,000 feet of 60-inch diameter prestressed concrete cylinder pipe. Two other key highlights included installing a 55-ton intake structure and over 60,000 tons of stone backfill and riprap protection above the buried pipeline. These contributions to this project will not only help the future of Sheboygan’s community by ensuring clean, reliable water but also enhance the capacity to meet its maximum and daily demand. The Chesapeake and Ohio (C&O) Canal National Historic Park Rehabilitation project is underway! Kokosing has begun working on this historic rehabilitation project in the C&O Canal between Washington, DC, and Bethesda, MD. This project, launched by the National Park Service, focuses on rehabilitating the historic canal, Lift Locks 1, 2, & 5, and Inlet Lock 1. The project scope includes new pedestrian bridges, canal wall rehabilitations, masonry repairs, foundation repairs, and drainage improvements. This work is vital for this national landmark, it will help with preservation and the functionality of the canal. The estimating and engineering team of the Asphalt Division of Kokosing Construction Company recently gathered for a training session to prepare for this season’s paving projects! Happy Engineering Week! We wanted to give you a peek into a project we have been working on for the Great Lakes Water Authority. The Aeration Decks 1 & 2 Improvements project has reached a 30% design completion milestone! The Kokosing-Hazen Design-Build team is developing the design to increase the efficiency and functionality of the existing aeration basins. Our team has completed the formal constructability review, are currently addressing any comments, and based on feedback, finalizing the 30% formal deliverables to send for submission to the client. We are proud to announce that The National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) awarded us the 2024 Quality in Construction Award for excellence in construction of an asphalt pavement. Awarded for the resurfacing of SR 16 in Licking County, Ohio, the Kokosing Construction Company milled and paved 14 miles of road using variable paving techniques. KCC partnered with Kokosing Materials, Inc. and The Olen Corporation, using Olen’s exceptional aggregates to help produce KMI’s top-quality asphalt. Kokosing completed a significant paving job at a new manufacturing site in Fayette County, Ohio. For many projects like this, we use a vertically integrated approach with our companies to increase efficiency and focus on quality. The stages of the project: 1️⃣ The Olen Corporation provides aggregate materials to the job site, these aggregates are used to create a stable foundation for the pavement. 2️⃣ Kokosing Materials, Inc. creates an asphalt-mixed design tailored to this project's needs. 3️⃣ The Asphalt Division team members from Kokosing Construction Company work on grading, sloping, and laying the asphalt. The Kokosing Industrial Marine Division was recently awarded a Certificate of Safety Excellence for their work on the clean-up project at Claytor Lake in Dublin, VA. This award is based on the team members’ performance in meeting the program goals and maintaining safety throughout the project. We completed the clean-up in January, removing debris from the lake and making it safe for visitors again. #Kokosing #SafetyFirst #ClaytorLake

Over time nature can lessen the integrity of infrastructure, making improvements necessary. There was an 8-in natural gas line in West Virginia that became exposed to the elements and was in need of repair. Integrity Kokosing Pipeline Service (IKPS) was able to successfully replace the line and work safely while doing so, this project took place on a steep 1:1 slope! IKPS completed the work and applied a protective concrete encasement over the pipeline. This will effectively shield it from any future damage. #IKPS #Kokosing #SafetyFirst
