Korean Air is the largest airline in South Korea with a fleet of at least 170 planes and represents South Korea as a flag carrier of the country. The airline's headquarters is based in the capital of South Korea, Seoul. Korean Air has a long history, being founded in 1969 after Hanjin Group acquired Korean Air Lines, which was originally under the ownership of the Korean government. Now, Korean Air flies to at least 125 cities in over 40 countries. Korean Air is among the top 20 airlines in the world in terms of passengers carried and also runs one of the highly valued international cargo airlines through Korean Air Cargo. Korean Air’s hub is Seoul-Incheon International Airport, a recognized 5-star airport by Skytrax. Currently, Terminal 2 of the Seoul-Incheon International Airport houses Korean Air. Korean Air is a founding member of the SkyTeam Airline Alliance along with Delta Airlines, Air France, and Aeromexico.
