The Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health (LACDMH) is the largest county mental health department in the country. LACDMH directly operates 75 program sites and more than 100 co-located sites. Additionally, LACDMH contracts with approximately 1,000 providers, including non-governmental agencies and individual practitioners who provide a spectrum of mental health services to people of all ages to support hope, wellbeing and recovery. Our diverse workforce, including nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, medical doctors, community workers, trained family members and trained mental health consumers, serve over 250,000 residents of all ages each year. We have just opened examinations for a Substance Abuse Counselor position with our department. This fulltime role pays $47,151.36 - $63,528.00 annually and has the following minimum requirements: One year of experience in a substance abuse program with experience providing physical assessment of patients, counseling of individuals, families and groups, and documentation. -OR- One year of training at the level of Substance Abuse Counselor Aid in a substance abuse counselor training program. -OR- Completion of 60 semester units or equivalent quarter units in an accredited college or university with specialization in substance abuse counseling, social work, psychology, sociology, or human services.
