For 8 years, LACItizen Awards has honored influential individuals in the cleantech industry. This year, we are proud to recognize Amber D. Miller, president of William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. LACI President and CEO Matt Petersen says, "As Dean of Dornsife at USC, Amber Miller left an indelible mark on Los Angeles. Through her creation of Public Exchange, the university engaged with local leaders and institutions by providing research, data, and analysis to solve critical challenges. The result was environmental research and partnerships that have begun to reshape Los Angeles, including LACI's partnership with USC Dornsife for the Pump to Plug design competition that examined the urban planning and architecture needed help deliver EV charging where it is needed most to reduce life threatening air and climate pollution." We look forward to celebrating Amber Miller at our 8th annual LACItizen Awards on December 5!

🔋 Reaching our ambitious 2028 goals won't be easy, but thanks to the leadership of our unprecedented public-private Transportation Electrification Partnership, we are moving forward on our bold regional targets and celebrating statewide milestones along the way. And just this week the State of California reached a major milestone: the number of EVs sold in CA has hit 2 million. This marks a shared commitment by millions of Californians toward a clean air future powered by EVs. It is also a major step in the right direction as we work toward our TEP goals--like ensuring 80% of light duty private vehicle sales are EVs by the time of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. To keep this momentum going, we need US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to grant California's clean vehicle waivers now! 🔗 https://lnkd.in/g4hV2NJU

"How does LA create a LEGACY with hosting the 2028 Olympic & Paralympic Games?" ^^This was the theme I heard throughout many conversations last week while attending CoMotion and Green Tech Festival. We have such an incredible opportunity with the games coming to LA in less than 4 years and I'm excited to witness how Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) and our portfolio companies will play a role! In building on the theme of legacy, it was so fun seeing so many LACI companies across several cohorts out and about last week! Saad Youssefi of Batteryze, Tiya Gordon of itselectric, Tim Huntzinger and Diego Cardenas, MSTM, BSBA of XOTO inc., Armelle Coutant of Kit Switch, Anurag Kamal of ElectricFish, Casey Castor of Mack Research, James Werbe of Wayside Energy, Emily Dinino of ThermoShade, Santiago Flores of Pure Energy Stream, Inc., Joey Pham of Eorte Brand! Finally, to wrap up this theme of legacy, I am so proud of Saad Youssefi of Batteryze for winning CoMotion's 2024 New Mobility Challenge!
