This invisible gas can be deadly, but you can take action to protect yourself and your loved ones. 🧐Check Your Detectors: Regularly test your carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they are functioning properly. 🪛Install Detectors: If you don't have detectors, install them immediately in key areas like bedrooms, living rooms, and near any fuel-burning appliances. Make your resolution this year to be more prepared! Some tips to help get you started: Snap pictures of your property and make an inventory for insurance purposes. 30: The number of days it takes for flood insurance to begin. The time to buy is when it’s dry. If you rely on public transportation, contact your local emergency management agency about evacuation procedures before a hurricane. Make a list of the things you would need or want to take with you if you had to leave your home quickly. Prepare your car for winter: keep your gas tank near full to help avoid ice in the tank and fuel lines. Make a plan to check on neighbors if extreme cold or winter weather knocks out your power. Learn how to shut off the utilities where you live, including water, electricity, and gas. Did you know December 1st-7th is National Handwashing Awareness Week?!🧼 Washing your hands properly is always vital, but it takes on added significance during the winter. We wrapped up our 8-week evidence-based program, Aging Outside the Lines, through The Foundation for Art & Healing 🎨🧑🎨🖼️ at Plymouth Regional Senior Center. Over the past weeks, older adults have had the opportunity to get outside their comfort zone through various art projects requiring imagination and critical thinking.
