ATTENTION LAND TRUST COMMUNITY! Please read: The U.S. Treasury published final regulations that have important implications for land trusts working on easements or land donations. Our three biggest takeaways from the new IRS regulations are: • There’s a $200,000 penalty for failing to comply. • Certain transactions retroactive to 2018 could apply. • Land trusts must file by Jan. 30. We reviewed the new regulations and created guidance for land trusts and their attorneys to help them consider the implications of these changes. The Alliance is now hiring a California senior program manager! The California senior program manager position offers an exciting opportunity to play a leadership role in the land conservation community and grow a robust land conservation program in California. The successful candidate must have previous experience working with land trusts in California, demonstrated experience related to equitable, community-centered conservation, the ability to build and sustain close, working relationships with diverse stakeholders and a working knowledge of complex regional conservation and land use issues in the state. This position is responsible for developing and managing a suite of high impact programs and activities described below that closely align with Land Trust Alliance goals and priorities. The 2024 election will bring change to our nation, and we are preparing to educate the new administration and members of Congress about the importance of private land conservation, and the critical roles that land trusts play in communities across the country. Regardless of party affiliation or ideological leaning, Americans believe we should be engaging in more conservation. Voters overwhelmingly supported conservation, approving 22 ballot measures across 13 states. These measures are expected to generate more than $18 billion for conservation and the climate. In addition, in Washington and Wisconsin, voters rejected separate anti-climate and conservation measures that could have severely impacted our work.

🤩 WOW! 🤩 This incredible land conservation community raised 💲53,000 for land conservation on Giving Tuesday! 131 supporters, land trust staff and board members — more than any other Giving Tuesday in Land Trust Alliance history — made the magic happen. This support could not have come at a better time. Now hiring a Corporate Relations Manager! The Corporate Relations Manager is a key external and internal facing position in the Development department, and reports to the Associate Director of Corporate Relations. The position works with the Associate Director of Corporate Relations to implement the corporate fundraising strategy including growing and maintaining unrestricted revenue streams through Corporate Circle, marketing campaigns and other opportunities within Alliance programs. Additionally, the position manages the Rally: The National Land Conservation Conference sponsorship program and supports other events’ sponsorship programs. The Corporate Relations Manager plays an essential, lead role in program oversight, managing key administrative duties including database management and fundraising analysis, cross-departmental communications regarding corporate donors and assists in informing short- and long-term team fundraising goals. We're looking for a Program Data Specialist at the Land Trust Alliance! The Program Data Specialist will serve as the lead in coordinating the data needs and the implementation of data management policies and procedures for Alliance programs. This position will be responsible for the overall management of the association management system functions of our Salesforce platform and will work closely with membership services and the programmatic departments to effectively use constituent and program data to meet the overarching data requirements of the organization. This includes participating as requested with future phases of system improvements. The Program Data Specialist will also work with other business teams including finance, communications and development to ensure essential business functions are appropriately integrated and supported.
