Our police athletic league (PAL) had the opportunity to meet with the TCBA Youth Cycling Club. The officers gave a presentation on bike safety and the rules of the road. Afterward, the officers biked over 5 miles with the group on the Lansing River Trail! Thank you, guys, for having us, we’re already excited to come back next year!

Yesterday, our training unit hosted two different trainings for our officers; CSI technician school and tactical bicycle operations. Officers at the CSI tech school got advanced training on how to process and document crime scenes. This is a great resource for our road patrol, allowing specially trained officers to process lower-level crime scenes without having to call in a fully trained crime scene investigator. Officers assigned to tactical bicycle operations received hands-on training from the Michigan State Police on how to handle large, and unruly crowds. This skill set is paramount in having safe and efficient resolutions to unruly crowds and riots. Schools and training like these are regularly offered to our officers, allowing them to build on skills they’re passionate about.
