In case you missed it: “Latino Outdoors celebrates the passage of the EXPLORE Act and the Senate’s Outdoor Recreation Package as a major victory for equitable access to the outdoors. These historic measures represent an important step toward ensuring that our comunidades, especially those that have been historically excluded, can now have an opportunity to experience the benefits of nature and outdoor recreation. By breaking down barriers to access and investing in outdoor education, these policies support the outdoors as a space for healing, joy, and leadership. At Latino Outdoors, we remain committed to fostering connection and belonging in the outdoors for all. Together, we can build a more inclusive and just future that invites everyone to EXPLORE the wonders of our natural spaces.” - Latino Outdoors Policy Advocate, Jazzari Taylor The passage of the EXPLORE Act demonstrates that people can still figure out how to work together on important issues. This bill ensures millions of kids, families and veterans will benefit from more accessible outdoor spaces and recreation opportunities. 🙌🏽
About us
Latino Outdoors offers free outdoor activities and supports people who are receiving their introduction to nature, creating a welcoming and family-friendly environment with outings that weave together aspects of culture, community, wellness, and connection. Guided by LO’s theory of change, volunteers craft outdoor experiences that emphasize connections between people, place, process, and policy. The goals are to inspire participants’ conservation ethic, encourage their evolving engagement in outdoor recreation, and perhaps most importantly, recognize and celebrate the different ways in which diverse communities already connect with the outdoors. LO believes these outcomes will arise naturally if individuals and communities have an equitable opportunity to play and recreate outdoors.

Progress towards a more diverse environmental sector has not only stalled, it’s reversing. For the first time in the history of Green 2.0’s Transparency Report Card, the percentage of full-time staff of color has decreased. We need the unique and valuable insights of those most affected by climate change to successfully address environmental issues. Failing to include, value, and keep these people at their workplaces will only hinder progress within the environmental sector. Read the full 2024 Transparency Report at bit.ly/2024-TR
