About us

Learning in Action helps coaches and consultants go deeper with their clients, allowing for meaningful shifts to occur in a fraction of the typical time. We do that by providing education about what shapes the human experience and drives behavior. We provide tools for revealing hidden patterns that can derail performance and training in how to work with clients at their core to find and leverage openings for transformative change. Learning In Action supports the growth and development of professional coaches, consultants, organizational and leadership development professionals, and HR executives. Our programs are intended for anyone who works in the conscious practice of facilitating growth and development in others.

  • We are saddened to announce the passing of Dr. Ronald R. Short, Ph.D. (1934–2024), one of the visionary founders of Learning in Action.   Dr. Short was a pioneer in the fields of social psychology and leadership development, leaving an indelible mark on the world through his teaching, writing, and mentorship. Among his many accomplishments, he authored Learning from Your Experience with People, Learning in Relationship, and A Special Kind of Leadership. His wisdom and insight shaped the lives of countless individuals, both personally and professionally. As one of the first faculty members at the Leadership Institute of Seattle and cofounder of Learning in Action in 1999, Dr. Short's work laid the foundation for our mission to foster deep connections, meaningful growth, and transformative leadership.   While Dr. Short has not been involved with the company for several years, his spirit and values remain woven into the fabric of our organization. His contributions to the field of interpersonal development and his legacy of fostering relationships will continue to inspire us for years to come. We invite all who were touched by Dr. Short's work to join us in honoring his remarkable life and contributions.
