Many popular holiday gifts come with lithium-ion batteries. While these batteries provide an effective and efficient source of power, they also pose significant fire risks when used improperly. Follow these NFPA safety tips and visit https://lnkd.in/ehEMWivu for more information on how to use these gifts safely! Lithium-ion batteries never belong in your trash or recycling bin, as they pose a fire risk. Instead, take charge and dispose of them properly at Lee County Solid Waste's Household Chemical Waste and Electronics Recycling Facility: https://lnkd.in/e8JYRPGW.

🚧 Pardon a brief road closure, we're building something great! As a part of Lee County's project to construct a 4.2-mile sidewalk on the East side of Bell Boulevard in Lehigh Acres, we will have a temporary road closure today (Monday, Dec. 23). Crews will be performing necessary underground drainage work on Charles Sise Street East between Bell Boulevard and Thomas Sherwin Avenue. Please drive with caution in the area as crews may be working close to the road. Learn more at leegov.com/dot.

As we reflect on this year and the holiday season, we are especially grateful for our employees! This year brought an active hurricane season with two major hurricanes impacting Lee County just weeks apart. Staff from all departments stepped up to the challenge before, during and after these storms to prepare and respond to what Helene and Milton brought our way. Thank you for all you do every day to make Lee County a better, safer and more resilient place to live, work and play!

Did you know old tires are common breeding grounds for pesky mosquitoes? Because of their shape, tires hold standing water that may be hard to drain. Residents can bring old tires to Lee County Mosquito Control District's upcoming Tire Amnesty Day event on Saturday, Jan. 11, or visit leegov.com/solidwaste for proper disposal guidance.
